Cannon

I love (actually I don't) how people are so quick to jump on anything negative about Wilder's recruitment, but not balancing it out with recruitment overall.

Ok, let's say that Cannon was completely 100% a Wilder signing and he's fucked up (far far far too early to make the fucked up verdict btw) well let's balance that out with getting Campbell on a free!

As I said, far too early to write Cannon off yet, but ffs at least look at the whole of Wilder's signings over what 15/16 windows in total? and then make a balanced assessment of how he's done overall.

Not what we needed, not what we currently need and not what we need going forwards.

He is not averagely good enough across all skills, nor he is excellent at any one individual skill.

Unless he undergoes some kind of rebirth in the next few months, he will make no impact whatsoever against PL defences. McB wasn't good enough, and he's a level above Cannon.

And that matters because, if we've not bought him for the now (and we're writing this season off), then we should've bought him for next season at the very worst.

And if it's not for that, and we've actually bought him for 26/27 then we've wasted £10m and 18 months development on a player, when a Kone, Parrott or Shpendi type player/profile/value would've been a better investment/risk under those parameters.

The simple fact that Leicester were prepared to sell him to us (for what people on here say isn't a particularly large sum) at the time & position that they did should've set off the alarm bells.

But hey, I've now been informed that despite all indications to the contrary he wasn't a CW choice and CW once signed Mark Duffy & McGoldrick, so i'll cut him some slack. 😂

Everton also decided he was not Premier league standard and moved him on.

If my memory is correct we did need a striker as ours where pretty much injured going into Jan, we brought in Diaz and Cannon, we also needed cover for Vini as he was injured, bringing in Choudhry (or how ever you spell his name), we needed to replace Souttar, and brought in holding, who last night I thought was his first real chance to show, us what he is about and apart from one accidental clash with Robbo he did well and will be great for us in then run in, I believe.

I do think Wilder is not great at spending bigger money but don't forget if we did spend 10million on Cannon, that's not a lot of money in todays crazy world when Brum are spending 15 million in league 1, and that burk Jordan Roads cost 9 million, a few years ago

It's hard to believe when he tried to sign him in the summer, then signs him a few months later when he's got some money
Yeah, I don't know any more than that, but given that there was interaction with the consortium on football matters back to the summer, it might have been that we tried to get him on loan back then, but that's just me filling in the gaps on what i've been told.
Another Wilder fanboy making excuses. Brewster was the only available option at 23m and 35k a week, and Oliver Burke for Callum Robinson + cash made loads of sense, Grbic for however many million made sense at the time. The gobshite has never made a bad signing in his life…. Heard it all before
Wilder fanboy? Get over yourself you great fanny. 😆

Is there any need for such nonsense, i never mentioned Brewster or the others in this thread, so why get yourself all riled up and talking shite? Really no need for this shite.

I would rather see BBD play upfront. He doesn't do anywhere near enough out wide, either on or off the ball, but at his best when in the middle.not sure why we needed him and Canon when priorities were elsewhere.

I don't see many people doing that. I think wilder is as good as it gets with signing low budget bargains and out of contract players. I do however think he's absolutely awful at spending money. Has he got any right for decent money?

Berge. But I don’t think Berge was wholly down to him.

He’s young and a square peg in a round hole, Unkess Wilder is intending to build around him then he’s a waste of money… nothing to do with his quality just that we’re not playing to his strengths

We’ve literally just changed our formation to one that suits him better.

Still getting strong vibes of when we bought Billy back from Scunthorpe.

Cannons young and proven at this level. Hopefully we get promoted, he has a good loan spell maybe even back at Stoke and then someone gives us at least 6 or 7 million for him

We need to get him in and around the box and get balls into him there not lob aimless balls into the corners or up in the air for him.
