It depends how you define prolific.
His first appearances for us were in the first division towards the end of the 1975-6 relegation season. He made 2 starts and one substitute appearance. He didn't score in any of those matches.
However, in the following season he scored 18 goals in 30 starts plus one substitute appearance. Including the substitute appearance, that is a strike rate of very nearly 60%. In the second division in his first full season whilst still a teenager. That seems a fairly prolific start to me.

But I do agree that Cannon needs to be given a chance and may improve under Selles with a different tactical setup.

I can remember Sharp partnered Beattie under Bryan Robson, where Robson insisted on Sharp supporting Beattie outside the box or out wide. He was then sold because he didn't score enough goals, when everyone knew that Billy was a poacher in the box. Then again, Robson's little table probably had more tactical nuance then that washed up hack.

The rumour going around was that he didn't want to come, and was forced by Leicester and his agent. He's certainly playing like it. Should have been hooked at half time, one of the worst centre forward displays I've seen.

Interestingly Ched got 9 in that relegation season, and I think 6/7 of those were when we had Andy Reid on loan, creating him the opportunities, if only that loan had been a bit longer…

I agree he’s not shown much ability but was he bought to score goals in the penalty box. If the ball isn’t ever being played into the box then there’s not much chance of him scoring.

Keith Edwards hardly seemed interested until he got the ball to his feet in the penalty area.

The manager either gets players in to feed an attacker or takes him out of the starting 11.
