Can we still win the league

So we beat Fleetwood 3-0 at a canter and boo the useless buggers off the pitch, then we lose 2-1 to Millwall reserves and we're going to win the League.

The optimism in this thread is refreshing and I think generally well placed.

For me the biggest concernsyesterday were that once again we only played one half, and we were kicked and shoved off the park by a cynical team unpunished by a hopelessly weak referee. This reminded me of the Bury game. This seems like an effective way to play against us.

To answer the question: things are slowly coming in to place and we should have a decent chance in the play offs(!) at least.

Adkins has repeatedly said stay in touch then kick on in January. Hopefully this plan will come together.

If we're going to get any more than play offs we need to improve the squad - and we'll need a bit of luck.

We may already have had some yesterday when Hammond didn't get his leg broken.

But will we strengthen in January ? Clough didn't bring in a defender and we failed in gaining promotion, he lost his job. We all thought Adkins would bring a defender in, he hasn't (yet). With our track record in the JTW, I'm not holding my breath.

I thought he was out of contract at the end of the season and the idea was that if he did well we'd sign him permanently. Could be wrong.

I think we'll go up for no other reason than this league is so poor that we'll end up falling over the line and getting promoted, although if we don't with this league and this manager I really will despair.

Let's get Brayford, Harris and co back on the pitch. Let's hope that the powers that be sponsor one or two key signings to fill in the holes. More than anything else, let's hope NA and his team are able to get the very best from the existing squad and get them playing - consistently.

Given our resources I'm confident that we can and will improve [disproportionately vis a vis the other teams] and assuming we are still in touch post Christmas [and I'm 100% confident we will be] let's see how we can push on then.

For me the top two are going to come from Wigan, Coventry, Gills, Bury and Utd [yep, Utd].

Outsdiders, I'd suggest, Walsall, Peterboro, Southend - I think Burton will struggle to keep it going to the end.

We can, but the more I see and the more I think about it I believe it'll be next season we win it.

Adkins really has got a tough job on getting rid of the excess squad players, and until he can (which I think will be in the summer) I think we'll carry on being inconsistent.

If he could get the right players in for us to play the way he likes we'd already be top because as many have pointed out the league really is there for the taking at the moment.
