Having a quick look for info I see you can't take DSLR's with changeable lenses into Wembley however I wondered if anyone could clarify the rules surrounding other cameras? I have a decent enough Bridge camera that I can take with me and wondered If I would get this through the gates?

To be honest my sole intentions are to take some good family / friends shots at the boozer and on Wembley way etc however in order to do this I would have to carry the camera into Wembley afterwards as I won't have much opportunity to get it down to the bus.

Any info, ideas and suggestions gratefully welcomed.

Two years ago, I didn't take my DLSR (+ monopod!) just in case. Sat round me were all sorts using zoom lenses etc. Probably not worth risking taking full gear. I'm just taking a compact. They looked in my bag going in, saw my (compact) camera and weren't bothered.

Somewhere buried in the small print for Wembley (and BDTBL) I expect there'll be some crap about 'no photography', but it's out of date. Are they going to confiscate everybody's phones?

If they stop you, tell them I said it's OK. Then hit them.

:D Grafikhaus

Seen that bit JD mate but was thinking a Bridge that I have. Problem is it is still a bit of moneys worth and a back up that I really don't want to lose! It doesn't have lenses that can be changed however it is obviously slightly bigger than a bog standard compact digital. I thas a recording feature obviously but would they check?

Bit of a ball ache this one, got relatives and friends from everywhere spending the day with us at wembley and really want some decent'ish photos. If I 100% have to then I will stick to mobile phone for pictures but really didn't want to.

Do you think I'll be alright with this:

From the FA Match Tickets Terms and Conditions;

3.4 You shall not bring into (or use within) the ground any equipment which is capable of recording or transmitting (by digital or other means) any audio, visual or audio-visual material.......

3.5 Subject to the provisions of clause 3.4 above, mobile telephones are permitted within the ground, provided they are used for bona fide personal and private purposes only.

It would seem that 3.4 would rule out ANY sort of camera, whether it is DSLR, bridge or compact, but cameras on phones are OK.

Their terms also state:

6 To view a full list of articles which must not be brought into the Ground see below. Prohibited items include knives, fireworks, explosives, smoke canisters, aerosols, air-horns, noisemakers, flares, weapons, dangerous or hazardous items, illegal substances, laser devices, bottles, glass vessels, cans, poles, or any article that may be used as a weapon and/or compromise public safety or which may pose a hazard or nuisance to any other person, or any article to be used for a commercial or a charitable purpose. Any person in possession of such items will be refused entry to or ejected from the Ground.

But I'm going to anyway. Especially the knives and explosives.:D And arseholes.

Strictly speaking this puts the kibosh on even that

18 No person (other than a person who holds an appropriate license) may bring into the Ground or use within the Ground any equipment which is capable of recording or transmitting (by digital or other means) any audio, visual or audio-visual material or any information or data in relation to the Event or the Ground. Copyright in any unauthorised recording or transmission is assigned (by way of present assignment of future copyright pursuant to section 91 of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988) to WNSL.

They're normally OK with mobile phone cameras though ... aren't they?

Exactly really don't know what to do! Sods law says I will get the jobs-worth steward who is devoted to the rules and tells me I can't take it in, either that or the cockney wide-boy who fancies a bonus for his days work and wants to confiscate the camera to sell it down hackney sunday market :D.

To paint a quick picture. In our group we have people who haven't seen eachother since following the blades together back in the seventies and eighties. Going to be quite an occasion and it would be great to get some pics of a great day out at Wembley for everyone.

I will be too busy watching the match to even bother with the camera in the game! If I didn't have to take it into the game then that would be splendid but can't see an opportunity to get it back to the coach.

If you've got a recentish mobile phone, the camera on it should suffice, surely? I personally would'nt take the risk of anything spoiling the proceedings.

Got Galaxy S4 and Iphone 5s work phone may have to be one of these.

Take the camera in with a small pancake lens on it you've got it and have a family member carry the larger lens.

TV adverts tell us those phones are the dogs bollocks. :)

To be honest as an emergency camera they do the job, when I'm at work and need a photo to back up an issue on the job or to go in a report and I don't have a camera with me usually the Iphone suffices however give me a proper piece of kit any day.

What is it that makes actual cameras better than phone cameras? I've got a Sony Xperia Z1 Compact (mobile phone, for the non-techies). That has a 20.7 megapixel camera. This is far greater than my actual digital camera. Does this mean my phone can take better pictures?

As an aside, I love the phone, it's the mutt's nuts. It's the only compact model that doesn't sacrifice the spec of the larger version, to my knowledge.

Physics. Phone camera sensors are tiny, so the pixels are very tightly packed and small. Lots of interference between pixels both optically and electronically. Quality of the optics plays a huge part too.
That's why my 10mp DSLR takes far better pictures than my other half's 16mp compact. My old 3mp compact took much better picture than my current 8mp phone.
