They also have a shallow gene pool in Barnsley ........ due to there only being 8 families who live there ....

Hence the webbed feet, pink eyes and 6 fingers ..... :D

UTB & FTP

That's seven more families than live in the Port Vale area..............

Though it's sad to lose any young player with potential, I think we really need this one to go through in order for Wilder to complete two or three key signings. It's clear now that the investment has dried up and the fee for DCL (currently around 5th in our pecking order) may be enough to fund moves for both Kilgallon and Leon Clarke. My fear is that Everton will want to have a look at him on trial before agreeing anything and that could hinder the move.

On the plus side, if he does actually stay his name would be ideal to use for an equivalent Hal Robson-Kanu chant this season.

Altogether now:

Dom Calvert...Dom Calvert-Lewin!

Just tell them we don't do trials. If they want him they'll sign him. £1m is peanuts to Everton with the £100m TV deal and their billionaire owner.
If he's done enough at u21 level to attract Everton I'm sure other clubs are considering him.

While DCL hasnt pulled up many trees yet - he has hardly been given much of a chance. I dont think we will ever learn that selling young talent for peanuts gets us nowhere - actually I don't think the board care as long as the fans keep turning up.

We saw him at he back end of last season and while he looked capable of playing and was not out of his depth, he didn't look a threat at all as far as I was concerned, he could make a great player there's no doubt, but it'll take at least three years for him to physically develop and we don't have That time, a million is peanuts to the premier league and no gamble at all, but for us we can do quite a lot with it...

We don't have the time to wait, and he's not in front of sharp, mcnults, or done when they're fit....

Don't care, either way....

I heard something today which suggests to me that this might happen,

" I cant believe how much they've bid for DCL!"

"How much"

"I don't want to talk about it"

Anything around the million mark and snap their hands off.

I'll bow to the wisdom of those who've seen more of him, but I can't even see the first hint of a competent footballer in him. I expected him to shine against today's pub footballer's, but again, all legs and no action.

I just don't get it.

I think its looking more unlikely he's going to Everton. He has gone to Spain with the rest of the team. I've heard we have rejected Everton's first offer.

I am glad, he is a good lad with a bright future, hope he stays and bangs a couple of goals in.

Be nice if we rejected bids now - he developed more, this season, and IF he was good enough to attract Prem interest, we hold off for £10m like Southampton used to do for their starlet forwards.
Be even nicer if he improves rapidly and that we do as a team and as a club and he goes on to become a full England international whilst still playing with us :)

And Mike Bassett becomes the real England manager .

We do sell too quick and too low price . It all depends on the board and what Wilder says which is good enough for me . First time for a long time we seem to have a manager that knows what he is doing . If we sell we sell .

You're missing a minor point that Southampton's starlets were actually good. :)

I think DCL putting in at least one promising performance, even against the likes of Stocksbridge, should be a pre requisite to people getting too worked up about keeping him.

Up to now, he hasn't delivered.

If selling DCL paid for Clarke/Forster-Caskey/McFadzean then surely its a no brainer?

Agreed, at the minute he's not going to make the first 11 so it's hard to believe we have turned down a big bid , especially as he was on the bench more often than the pitch under Wilder in a division lower !

Liverpool Echo stating we rejected the bid;

http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/spor.../everton-offer-dominic-calvert-lewin-11603091

"Everton are weighing up their next move after an offer for Dominic Calvert-Lewin was rejected.

The Blues lodged a bid of £1m up front with Sheffield United for the 19-year-old but the ECHO understands it was knocked back.

Everton want to add the highly-rated Calvert-Lewin to their under-21 set-up but look like facing a fight to land him.

Calvert-Lewin has been with the League One club for over 10 years and signed a new long-term contract last year."

Gets 30 mins v Crewe 3 weeks ago (misses chance) not seen since.
On bench for Oxford - but then not involved for U23s at Forest or last night v Foxes.
Pathway?
To the exit door perhaps...

Everton hoping to do a deal for him today. We need him to move on really so we can re-invest the money elsewhere
