I'm getting concerned now about cooper, want some straight answers from selles at full time
3 goalkeepers in squad tonight, I'm hoping it's because he hasn't made is mind uo yet regarding his no 2, and they'll all get some game time tonight
My opinion is Davies or grbic arnt good enough and faxon is not ready
If Cooper doesn't play at Chesterfield, then I'll be really concerned
Neither davies nor grbic good enough to be United's No 1, but grbic 5 times better than "FLAPPER" davies !

The only way it makes sense is we're getting +20M for him and Selles has a good prospect lined up, for less money, so we can use the funds to strengthen.

If it's lose Gus OR lose Cooper, I'm not sure where my money goes.
Cooper isn't worth 20m, but 20m isn't enough to make us better without him

I actually think there will be more good teams vying for automatic this year:

Ipswich
Saints
Norwich
Birmingham
Coventry
Us
Maybe Swansea or WBA

There won't be 3 or 4 teams pulling away at the top.

We are weaker though. No Souttar. No Souza. Likely no Anel. No JRS. No BBD. No Gilchrist (who I rated until he got injured).
I just don't know if we'll carry enough goal threat.

I enjoyed the game tonight and Burton did well with defending deep and closing us down fast in midfield. They were unlucky to lose.

I'm not convinced that you can play Hamer and O'Hare in the same team and I'd personally start O'Hare over Hamer if I had to choose between them.

Seriki was excellent throughout.
I think you can play Hamer and O'Hare together to good effect, but they need that physical presence in midfield alongside them (like they had with Sheaf at Coventry).

Hopefully this Soumare might be the answer to that.

You can't be dominating from the off. You've got to start off by just nibbling around the edges. Let her take the lead and let her get on top if she wants to. Let her think she's in control but don't be a pushover. Keep it fairly even early on, toy with her and let her toy with you. Try not to penetrate too deeply, too early. Just gently play around the edge of her box. Ignore any whispered moaning you might hear and whispered cries of 'Gerrit in box' and just gently push forward, not too far, before retreating back again and let her come to you again. Repeat this for a short period and she'll eventually lay back and be wide open, inviting you to thrust deeper and harder. Don't be put off by her cries as you stick it in for the first time. It's exactly what she expects of you. But don't get ahead of yourself. You don't want to popping another in so soon and be left wanting at the end. It's a game of patience. Make her wait for the rapier thrust. Tease her with a couple of near misses. By this time she'll be desperate and she'll come at you with everything. But don't succumb. Invite her on but don't relinquish control. Let her think she might be calling the shots but always keep on top. And then, at the very last moment, push hard and keep driving on, get yourself deep inside her box and when the moment arrives, fire it home and take the glory.

And that Paul, is how you beat Burton in a pre-season friendly.
Brilliant 😂😂😂😂

None as strong as Leeds and Burnley though. I can’t see Norwich being up there imo and I’m not getting the hype with Birmingham. Yeah you could say we are weaker but souttar has been replaced by Bindon who I think has a higher ceiling although souttar was great. Is there much between Barry and JRS? Guess we will see on that one. Don’t think BBD really offered much. We do need to replace Souza though that’s the main loss.

I think you’ve got to allow for the improved tactical ability and coaching of Selles as well. Top 2 has to be the target for any club with parachute payments.

I'm doing nothing ..a wins a win ..just wondered of those that hounded out Wilder for only juet winning 28 games would turn on Selles for only just winning tonight..
Who hounded Wilder out? What on earth are you talking about? Wilder was sacked ultimately for failing to win promotion back to the Premier League by a board that backed him heavily in January but saw the team become actively worse.

Everyone could see that if we continued to scrape wins by narrow margins eventually it would catch up with us and it did.

We looked poorly coached all season, the football was attritional at best, fitness levels were unacceptable, we racked up £500k in fines due to ill discipline, we wasted January’s budget on players we didn’t need and failed to replace players we did. The playoff final encapsulated the 2nd half of the season, played well for about 25 minutes but then retreated 20 yards and ultimately conceded.

But you want fans to turn on a new manager that has 3/3 wins, scoring 13 goals, because we ‘only just’ won a preseason friendly?

We have also lost Choudhury and Brewster who despite what alot of United fans think of him did contributed a few goals that won use points.

so you never saw the constant berating from several fans who claimed crap like we only looked decent in 4 wins out of 28 wins
winning by the odd goal was as bad as drawing remarks
ill give Selles 5 TO 10 GAMES TO LOOK CAPABLE BEFORE THE WHIGERS START ON HIM
Im behind him as hes our manager now

i dont want the fans who said only 4 of our 28 wins last season were good wins , to turn on Selles
how did you miss the complaints last season

Very poor 1st half defence all over the place especially down the left Robbo/Burrows should have been 4-0 at HT. Better teams than Burton will murder us if we play like that. Desperate for a Robbo replacement, desperate for a Souza replacement. Better 2nd half despite Cannon and Moore being on the pitch, Moore in particular looked awful dithering on the ball and slow to react surely age has caught up with him at this level he is looking a real donkey, lucky to get the winner he knew nothing about it.
On that showing I'm getting worried that mid table is the best we can hope for. Desperately need a couple of signings to go into the 1st team just to build a solid spine, no real leaders in the squad at the moment, it could be a long long season if glaring issues are not addressed.

Have to agree a Souza type DM is a priority
Go into the season without one and some teams will rip us up it’s been clear to see in all three games

Last night wasn't as much fun as York and Rovrum, but it did solidify my opinion of Keefer Moore. His ancestors pissed off a witch and they've cursed him to have his feet on the wrong legs.

For a forward - a position that quick thought and feet are of paramount importance - he's doggers. The playoff 'pass' was the fourth or fifth time he played a similar ball last year, most of which resulted in a chance/goal for the oppo. So much so, that l wasn't even surprised when he did it! Reality is, he's not dynamic, consistent, or technically good enough to hold down a starting position in a team pushing for Auto's.

I think I like him as an impact sub when things aren't going well. But as a starter? Nah. Not good enough.

He got proper pelters from our fans last night too for his wayward passing… will have been blatantly obvious to him!

He’s certainly not been forgiven for “that “ pass !!

Was quite clearly pissed off at the end and was the only player not to come over afterwards

That annoys me that does. It's not as if he thought oooh I'll pass it to a Sunderland player.

It was just a lack of technique that let him down.

Did anyone else think that Burton looked pretty decent on the ball? They passed it around really well.

When you're playing a new pressing system, with a new team, against a team that can spread it about a bit, it's always going to be a challenge.

Personally I don't hate it when things don't go perfectly, I'd rather find the problems that we need to solve than paper over the cracks, and pre-season is the best time to do it.

Neither davies nor grbic good enough to be United's No 1, but grbic 5 times better than "FLAPPER" davies !
Davies distribution was awful in the first half, missed a lot of the second half seeing to my missus ( no definitely not what you're thinking 😕)
So didn't see much of Grbic.

It's hard to argue with any of this.

But Wilder is a club legend, that did incredible things to restore us to the top 25 clubs in England.

I think we've moved onto a "more modern" coach and structure at a sensible time now. COYB.

I hadn’t noticed the passing so much last season as I had the hesitation and dithering in front of goal and a complete lack of decisiveness. It almost seemed like his brain said “shoot” but the feet didn’t hear it and decided to do something else anyway. He was on the downward spiral when we got him so Wrexham are welcome to him. He’ll fit in well with Parkinson.

Seriki was excellent throughout.

I'd like to see Seriki drive into the box and attempt a shot, more than he does. Not sure if it is a confidence thing?

With Andre Brooks, you know he will have a go, once he gets into range. I'd like Seriki to have a crack, like that.

Can't fault his pace though, something we still don't have a great deal of (apart from Ukaki).
