Burrows

Let's be honest he was ripped a new one 😂 However you don't face many players with that speed and ability in the Championship.

He's been a phenomenal signing but I've thought all along he's really a wing back not a left back.

The lad who came on on the right is decent, the defender. Ebosele?

Udinese picked him up, as they do, from Derby for next to nothing as he was out of contract. Always thought he looked decent. Didn’t know he had a bit of a throw as well.

He had a bit of a nightmare, but worked his absolute bollocks off. That's all you can do sometimes
I agree, my worry is that he struggles against pace. He was really poor vs Leeds earlier in the season due to their pace down the right.

If we were promoted then defending against fast right wingers is something he has to improve.

Going forward he’s one of the best we’ve had, I’d say he’s a better attacker than prime Stevens was

Another example of his attacking mind yesterday. #1 penalty taker he says.
Weerz Burrows song?

Fair enough your opinion mate but I think his ceiling is a lot higher than that. Let’s not forget he’s only just turned 23

My prediction is that he will be a £50m player in a couple years. He has everything to be a top LB.

He's been a terrific signing.

Whilst he has occasionally struggled against quality attacking players, going forward he has been top notch and he's got a wand of a left foot.

Wilder was praising his versatility after the Norwich game, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if we see him in midfield more in future. I think he could do a job in a playmaker role.

One thing I don't quite get is that him and McCallum start together, McCallum tends to play as the LM/LW, when their attributes suggest they would be better the other way around?

Agree he was a sound buy from Posh. His versatility sshould be nurtured, but I see that as a bous at full back rather than midfield.
If he does face better players at Championship level, or above, that could prove a useful asset depending on the opposition. Plenty of time to try him in midfield later, as his game matures.

He is a sound member already, but even though we don’t play 5 at the back anymore, his attacking skills might ne best developed as a RB first?

Was just gonna post that. Funny interview. But country music seriously? Don't think the young uns will let him play any in the dressing room. It's all trap and dub step these days 😂😂
Country music is actually fairly popular with a younger crowd currently, partly down to TikTok, partly Taylor Swift (and a little Beyonce) - There's a country music bar in town called "Cactus Jack's Honky Tonk".

He only lacks that unreal pace that is required by the top full backs to be a £50m player. Only a few in world football play at a £50m level without pace.

Hes a good player who’s young and has a good few years in front of him with us. He’s developing week in week out. I think his career will end him up in the Premier League which is fantastic considering a £3m initial investment.

Decent signing but defensively very poor and also lacks confidence at times…however, he can/will develop into a top end championship player….
I can't agree. Defensively he is very good overall. Yes he can get caught out by the pace of a winger. That aside, his positional sense is excellent. He sees the danger and gets a tackle in or clearance. His decision making is good too. He knows when to get it gone out of the danger zone. He is already a top end championship player, and capable of playing in the PL.

Funnily enough I think our fullbacks would suit a back 3/5 formation more so than a back 4 (not saying to change it btw). Burrows would be an unreal LWB and Gilchrist would be better as the right hand side CB in a 3. Love Burrows though, no surprise he’s doing well when he was captain and player of the season last year - the typical type of signing we made when Wilder first came into the club.

I guess being yo yo club we keep players like him and Coops for 2 seasons tops.

Is he that much slower than a Chilwell for example?

2 of the best 2 left backs are Pearce and Cole and they could hardly be called quick

I see him very much like Leighton Baines, great left foot, free kick and pen taker. I think his career will be similar too, mid to top half prem team and a good chunk of England caps.

He got done a kipper at Watford but the support he receives from the midfield can be shocking at times, especially when Souza isn't playing
Same goes for Gilchrist

I think they've both been absolutely excellent defensively when you consider that

I am a Posh fan.
Burrows is a real talent and possesses a great attitude.
It is only last season that he started playing at LB to fill a gap in the team. Previously he was very much considered a midfielder. Early season he was targeted aerially with long balls, but he learned to cope, his progress was astonishing. Personally I would not be surprised if he ends up in midfield.

Is he that much slower than a Chilwell for example?
Good point. But I do think Chilwell is maybe a level above Burrows. But I think the reason players like Chilwell who seems to be moving on from Chelsea the reason is most likely the lack of pace.

It’s why players like Antonee Robinson are looking at big moves due to their electric pace.

Cole had pace and Pearce played in a completely different era. The game has changed beyond recognition since Pearce played.

Burrows is a good player at this level and a steal for 3 million but lacks the pace and athleticism for any higher than a club bottom half of the premier league.
