I didn't watch the game., but did Blackburn try to exploit Burnley's weakness at set pieces like we did?

I didn’t watch it either. According to BBC website:
“Kevin Gallacher
Former Blackburn striker on BBC Radio Lancashire -
Blackburn haven't once played on the weaknesses Burnley showed at Sheffield United last week.
They're making it easy for Burnley”

So no.

Everyone in football: “Burnley look incredibly vulnerable to set piece, crosses, high balls into the box. Every side is going to exploit that now!”

Blackburn: “So we’re going to pass it around a lot in our own half, play it slowly out from the back, and probably get caught in possession…”

No, not at all and they even mentioned it in commentary that Blackburn don’t seem to have learnt anything from the Sheff Utd match.

Blackburn offered nothing and their game plan seemed to be to keep the score down. They looked a mile away from being a play-off side.

It’s shaping up to be us and Burnley for top two. Not getting carried away but you can’t help but to be encouraged to see how poor one of the other main challengers are.

When we resume we have to do better on the return than we have on previous lay-offs though.

Happy with that, we slug it out with Burnley for the top position,.Blackburn now start to slide and lose bereton in Jan, the hills have eyes start to slide too and lose pukey to boot, Watford have renewed bids for their front pairing and let them go.......

The Dean Smith effect is starting to kick in nicely for Norwich.

Blackburn play nice football without doing much with it. Really nice 1 touch pass and moves but sometimes in dumb areas (which cost them a goal) and weren’t direct enough. I appreciate it from a technical POV but it lacks a little bit of purpose.

Blackburn fans probably thought the same on Tuesday night.
Long way too go yet, plenty more time for ecstasy and bed wetting tantrums until the end of the season.

Blackburn were shocking today, no idea what there game plan was to be honest. I've seen more penatration from a eunuch 🤔

I hope the Shirecliffe sniper was in attendance at Turf Moor

They were totally clueless at the lane too, very surprised they managed to keep getting results. Fully expect them to fall off though you cant keep losing this many and stay in touch

Blackburn are a weird team. Every time I've watched them this season they've been atrocious and soundly beaten. Their goal difference is +2 yet they're 3rd after 21 games. The stattos will also tell you that they're vastly outperforming their expected goals this season - the Championship xG table puts them at 16th.

I would expect their form to tail off at some point but you just never know. They probably have the best striker in the league which makes a huge difference to them.

I'd prefer a gap between the play-offs. On the first week back, on the 10th, Blackburn play at 12pm, so if they beat Burnley, then Preston - they will be 4pts ahead of us when we kick-off.
Burnley play on Sunday 11th. So, my ideal scenario would be a Burnley win today, and Blackburn lose against Preston - if we beat Huddersfield we'll be top, 5pts clear of Blackburn in 3rd - with Burnley kicking off on Sunday in 2nd away at QPR.
What? We come back after an international football break AND play the team bottom of the league? Oh man...

About time Burnley got some injuries like we have had, be interesting to see how they coped. See how Mr VC gets the job done then

That's so poor isn't it? What did their scouts do? A cursory glance through their fixtures and you see '5' and 28 shots against. Just even 45 minutes of that match would be enough viewing.

Christ, it was a Derby. It must have been all over the papers how they struggled.

I was not entirely sure what we wanted here. As mentioned two go up. Pushing the pack further down isn't the worst, depends how greedy you are. Most don't think Blackburn will last, though in their defence they got this far and we're almost half way. What you want ideally then is Burnley to win against the top 3-8 to keep them at bay and then get beaten up by some lower teams on set plays.

Might work out for the best us double teaming all the others only for us to give Burnley some sweet chin music and win the league. (Forgive the 90s WWE refs there!).

Anyone know the back ground of these Belgium play players who Burnley have signed.
15 points needed to comply with regulations, unless internationals how do they get a permit not easy to qualify as Coubily has found. Not saying they arnt legal but would be interesting to know how they do it.

according to sky stats Blackburn only had 1 shot in the game , a season low for the championship

Brereton Diaz looked like he was waiting for a bus

Those who have complained about some of our performances should try and stay awake and watch Blackburns performance
burnley didnt have to break sweat

Samuel Bastien - DR Congo full international and regular at top flight Standard Liege.

Vitinho - Brazil U20 international and regular at top flight Cercle Brugge.

Baston - Belgium U21 and regular at Royal Antwerp.

Anass Zaroury - Belgium U21 and regular at Charleroi.

So all internationally recognised and all top flight regulars.

Issue with Coulibaly if he’d remained at Beerschot is that they lost their top flight status.
