It is becoming pretty obvious that Wilder knows what he has available, what might be added based on outgoings, and it's pretty obvious he hasn't as yet been able to land several key signings,(Holmes,Leonard and Lenihan). I'm posting this as based on the contributions from posters who are accountancy based the sell on money has already been "spent" and presumably so has much of what we have taken in the sales of Ramsdale and DCL.
Sean can disabuse me if I'm wrong here.
Therefore as it stands any significant incoming, like a potent striker needs to be matched with further outgoing. Freeman has been mentioned and Brooks remains an ace in the hole.
IF this scenario is correct,it makes a mockery of the "significant investment" claims, unless what Wilder has spent so far is considered as such by the board,or maybe as I and others have said, the sea change in what is spent as routine in this league compared to what it was last time we were here is a huge factor.
Wilder has stated he wants several more players. The next couple of weeks will be very interesting. Maybe not season defining, but possibly a good insight into the actual intent and willingness to fund progress by the owners.
