Thats how much the Blades value him with Sunderland,Reading and Villa on the sniff......

I could see Sunderland paying that. After all they paid 6 for Jones. Sheff Utd should be saying 'No at any price'

agreed to an extent but that sort of money could not be ignored, you could quite easily get two new strikers in to replace his goals, or another quality striker and midfielder, dont get me wrong id love him to stay but for that sort of money (double what we paid) youve gotta take it

id say £10 million at least to even consider.

hes banging in the goals for us, why get rid? next season with things looking as they are, we have a good chance of promotion, so why sell on the one banging in the goals when its working fine.

why accept £5million when you could push, and most probably get £10?

look at bent from charlton, he was never worth that!

Bent was an inflated price because of West Ham, he is also younger and a more prolific striker than Beattie, also has more skill and overall better.

We couldn't push for £10 million because nobody in their right mind would want to pay it.

well no need to sell then is there!

for £5million, id rather keep him and have him scoring for us.

missing point robbo :D i didnt say anything about his age to BT or him being any better, i was mentioning about how much over was paid for him.

And his wages are a factor too. I wouldn't want to see him go, but I think that £8m might be too much to turn down.

I'd be happy with about 8 million but I'd rather he stayed for another season.

Not worth selling him for 8million - the arguement that we could get 2 strikers is a joke - its like out of date bread - buy one get one free - neither as good as the one on its own (great little analogy )

... But the point is we have got enough strikers and would surely be better to have 1 extremely good one than two more mediocre ones

we could easily get 2 quality strikers for £8 million, usng just one example at cost roque santa cruz at blackburn, 4th leading scorer in the premiership this year and has played in champs league.............and he cost them £3.5 million

£8 million pound and their hands would be snapped off.

Anyone with sense would surely see this as fantastic business. Because not only is it £8 million, but it's a reported £2 million a year off the wage bill too.

WE could get another proven striker in, Robbie Earnshaw (if you want a name throwing into the ring) or there are many others available.

A proven Championship striker and nothing more though. Also I couldnt see Derby letting him go anyway unless we paid silly money.

Why not? Paul Jewell has publicly stated the parachute money has already been spent, so money may well be low.

Earnshaw has also proved himself in the PL with WBA, but sadly since that season was never given any real consistent play time. Also not sure if you've noticed, we are in the Championship and this is the league we're aiming to get out of.

But Earnshaw was just one player out of many.

Problem is.... Should we subsequently get promoted, what will it cost us to get a striker of his calibre in? As great as Hulseys season in the premier was, 8 goals just isn't enough if we want to be successful up there.

Earnshaw to me, would be a waste of money.
