Same one that whisked Che Adams away.
Shouldn't be long now then?
No he isn't worth £40 million its silly money. Thats what Villa have done. Despite their problems the one player they don't really want to sell for fear of a backlash is Grealish so they have come up with a silly figure to maximise his value. There is no way Grealish will be sold for £10 million when the likes of Maddison are currently valued at £20 million.
CW said Brooks was staying and only a silly offer would mean we would cash in. £10 million is not silly money for Brooks, we've already had enquiries around that figure. Double that and we move into silly money territory at todays market value. Give him a season where he gets back to the form pre glandular fever and his value rockets. The Club need to find time for assets to grow and maximise their value. CW believes that is the way forward and I have faith in him that we won't cash in for a low valuation.
Grealish wasn't much more proven before this season, been a bit part player for villa and I recall reading before the start of the season alot of villa fans Weren't keen on him being in the team. I also recall posting this and people not wanting him due to attitude. One season and brooks can cost the same if we play hard ball.
Dont quote facts BII.
Grealish was considered to be a nightmare by Villa fans until this season. Last season they wanted him out after yet another disciplinary episode. He's had one good season out of 90 appearances and that was at championship level.
Maddison has a grand total of 42 appearances this season just gone in the championship yet both are considered by some to be miles in front of Brooks. If Brooks hadn't got glandular fever his appearances would have been virtually the same as Maddison.
Brooks has full international caps against his name the others haven't. If Brooks gets back to the form he showed in the early part of last season then he will catch the other two up very quickly in terms of value.
What consistent period of early season form was this? In September, he had one good game against Wednesday, one good game for the Welsh u21's and a good 14 minutes against Leeds in October.
You must see a different game to me then. Cardiff away he came on with Duffy and Cardiff couldn't get the ball off us for the last 25 minutes. Cardiff fans raved about him and Warnock said he was the best prospect in the Division based on that cameo alone. Against Wolves at Home one of the teams best performances of the season he ran the championship title winning defence ragged. His exertions that day and the previous match against the pigs meant he had to be rested against Forest. He was flying at that point and IMO we wouldn't have lost against Forest if he had been fit enough to start.
Fulham at Home came on at 2-3 down and Fulhams defenders were panicking taking it in turns to kick him up in the air as they couldn't cope with his direct running. He almost snatched an equaliser at the death. Fulhams defenders collapsed onto the floor at the final whistle.
Millwall away the one bright spark in a poor away performance scored a beautiful volley.
He's not going to win the match on his own every game, he's a young raw talent and does take the wrong option sometimes but in full flight we have no-one like him.
Your wrong about his appearances for Wales. During that period he got two full caps against France and Panama. He was named the man of the match against Panama, the Welsh press loved him with comparisons being made between him and a young Ryan Giggs. Its rumoured on that appearance alone Bournemouth made an enquiry about him.
Its the Blades way to put down our players whilst at the same time talking up opposition players. He's a special talent that we need to enjoy and appreciate what he brings to the team whilst he's here.
If we get £10 million, how much will CW get extra on his summer budget? £10 million!£10million + he can go

You're right, we must be watching different games. Brooks played the last 17mins against Cardiff and Duffy stayed on the bench. As much as I like Warnock, i take 90% of what he says with a pinch of salt. If he's honestly saying that DB is a better prospect than Sessignon, then he needs his bumps felt. We played 10 men against Wolves, and I wouldn't place great store on that match.
The Fulham game was near the end of November, and by the end both sides had lost all semblance of shape. The Panama game was the week before. Between his debut & his illness he was mostly making cameo sub appearances of less than 20mins. His legend is built upon the derby and fleeting glimpses since.
I'm not suggesting that he hasn't played well in patches, and i'm not suggesting he's shit, but he's been far from consistent and yet to show that he can withstand the rigours of a 42 match season. I'm even handed about him, if he was a Wednesday player and they were hyping him up, I'd say the exactly the same. There's at least 6 if not 10 players of a similar age who where consistently better than DB last season in the Championship. He's 20 yrs of age (very nearly 21) with the physique of a 16 yr old, that's why citeh got rid. If that doesn't change, then what we're seeing of him now is the best we'll get; patches, glimpses & cameoes.
Maddison and Grealish are currently way ahead of Brooks. Grealish has played in the Prem and Chanpionship regular for years.
Brooks has probably made 15 first team appearances?
There seems to be certain posters on this board that simply loathe the thought of us keeping our best players.
Some of the more wealthy Premiership clubs would pay £20 million for a young player just on potential of said player developing into a great player. There is some silly money out there and greedy football agents and desperate managers.
I know this isn't aimed at me, but I wish we could keep all our promising young players, but several seasons in the wilderness cost us in many ways. Realistically the only way to keep talent at the club would be to have a Premiership status and income, that would help. There seems to be certain posters on this board that simply loathe the thought of us keeping our best players.
Whilst I've been frustrated at some of the fees we've received over the years, especially for one or two who we could have doubled our money on a year later, I think a bit more realism is needed on what we could get for Brooks at this stage.
Personally I'd be astonished if anyone would pay more than around 4 or 5 mill in guaranteed payments.
‘Nugmeg’s’ has given me an even bigger bone on than usual. It's all hypothetical isn't it? But I'm just be pragmatic. Trying to see the bigger picture. If after weighing up all the pro's & con's, I think that by selling one player and re-investing the monies in 3 players capable of improving the team is the right course of action long term, then I see that as a sensible suggestion. As opposed to keeping the player who occasional gives us all a hard on when he nugmeg's a Wednesday defender. I started supporting United well before DB was a twinkle in his father's eye, and god willing I'll be supporting them long after DB has retired. I care about the success of the club, that's all and the best ways to achieve that. In basic terms, DB's contracted to the club until 2021. The inherent risk is that if he plays well next season, and we don't go up, he'll be off. If he plays well, and we go up, he might be off as well (see Fulham & Sessignon & Fredericks). If he plays poorly, then his value will drop from what it is now. Admittedly, if he plays well, then his value may increase, and that is at the heart of the gamble. If by selling Brooks now, it allowed us to bring in (by whatever means) Blackman, Hugill, Jack Hobbs and a couple of others, and gave us DB back on loan for a season, then i'd see it as the right decision.
see post 31
I stand firmly behind what I've said elsewhere.
It's pretty much universally accepted we need a centre forward with pace who finish, stretch defences and cause mismatches due to his athleticism.
Now Brooks might not be the finished article but he's much closer to having those attributes than anyone else we could spunk £10m + on.
? What is?and only 2 minutes away from me in Horsforth!
