'Memries' Brief but Brilliant Blades

Hutchison is the finest 'all round' player I've ever seen in a Blades shirt. He also had that nasty streak bubbling away just under the surface, that for me marked him out as a 'proper' Blades player. All our midfield problems would be solved if we could re-sign Don Hutchison, even at 45 years old!!!

I met Don Hutchison at the (then called, not sure what it is now) Swallow Hotel when he had not long signed for us and I was also staying there for a weekend. I said hello to him over breakfast and asked him to sign a little article about himself in my 90 Minutes magazine which he kindly did. I hadn't read the article at the time, it was only later I realised it was about the "beer bottle label" incident during his Liverpool days. Fortunately he didn't read the article else he'd have told me where I could shove his autograph!

He's only 33 and playing at that level? Good God, we've signed some overrated uninterested chuffs in our time....

To be fair, I think he retired after finishing in the conference, and then decided he'd like to keep playing.

2 on debut including a last minute penalty in a 4-3 win vs Pompey if I remember correctly?

Edit: I checked on he did indeed score two, though not sure if it was his debut. Robert Prosinecki played and scored that day for Pompey. The only Croatian to score at the Lane?
Prosinecki got a goal virtually on half time. I think Tracey got all at sixes and sevens and was all over t shop, heading the ball away just prior to that goal. Tremendous game. Footage anyone please?

How about Bobby Bobby Bobby Davison? :

Carl Veart. Wasn't all that but did score a vital goal against Arsenal in the cup. Did he also score in the 'Steel City Cup' or whatever it was called, when we beat the pigs at the sty?

Connor Sammon..

...well he was briefly brilliant at Peterboro for half an hour for us.

good old Don, I knew the woman he exposed himself to, who was then the girlfriend of one of the owners of Cream® in Liverpool btw, she took the photo and picked up £15K for it. and by all (well 'an') accounts Don was taken off against Villa in the cup to stop him crapping himself as the wole team had gone out on the lash the night before believing that the game would be snowed off.
