I would've liked to have kept Anthony Stokes a bit longer as well.

What for? Shit and giggles? He was fucking awful, and he's an idiot as well. Another player who only looked any use in Scotland, which is an indictment of how crap it is up there.

good old Don, I knew the woman he exposed himself to, who was then the girlfriend of one of the owners of Cream® in Liverpool btw, she took the photo and picked up £15K for it. and by all (well 'an') accounts Don was taken off against Villa in the cup to stop him crapping himself as the wole team had gone out on the lash the night before believing that the game would be snowed off.

These days there'd be out outrage on the Blades forums if we tried to sign a player that had done that.

How about Bobby Bobby Bobby Davison? :

So good they named him thrice.

That's the one. Now plowing his trade in the Wessex premier league at the grand old age of 33.
Brian Bleeding Howard. Worst midfielder I've ever seen play for us, last season included. That lad made Dean Hammond look good.

Didn't we sign him off the back of a couple of good performances on telly in the Dingles' cup run?

Barnsley claimed he was worth 10m!

Back on-topic, I was a big fan of Keef Gillespie during the last Premier season. Coming to the end of his career by that time but still quality.

And you can't accuse a guy who gets sent off ten seconds after coming off the bench of lacking passion.

Who was that shithouse we got from Barnsley? Came with a big reputation, came on as a late sub in his first game, and made a few accurate passes, with callers on Praise & Grumble creaming their pants over him. Was basically shit thereafter.

I think it's important to note that when Howard came on for his debut United were already 3-0 up and coasting. The opposition were well beaten and Howard could swan around and hit passes under no pressure whatsoever. When there was any actual work to be done he would disappear, although I do recall he scored the winner away at Reading at a time when they would always beat us.

Scott Marshall on loan from Arsenal I thought was a great player.

Hutchison is the finest 'all round' player I've ever seen in a Blades shirt. He also had that nasty streak bubbling away just under the surface, that for me marked him out as a 'proper' Blades player. All our midfield problems would be solved if we could re-sign Don Hutchison, even at 45 years old!!!

Where is he now Mrs Hutchison?

Agree with that, class act. Autobiography worth a read, he rated Warnock.

Paul Shaw - who we signed from Gillingham - another player comfortable on the ball - could pick a pass and score a few.

Yet another player we couldn't accommodate.
He thought he was Bergkamp with lots of little flicks and short passes in the box. You can do that shit if you've got good players around you but his overall game wasn't good enough for him to get into a team with good players.
It used to frustrate me that he'd do a clever little flick into space and no one had read it, when he could have taken a shot or header on goal.

Yep and Britton thought he was Beckenbauer

Phil Starbuck and Franz Carr were both class when they came on loan.

Marcello,remember him?
Laurent D'jaffo ,could put himself about,we've had lot worse forwards than him!!

Prosinecki got a goal virtually on half time. I think Tracey got all at sixes and sevens and was all over t shop, heading the ball away just prior to that goal. Tremendous game. Footage anyone please?

Prosinecki was absolutely superb that game. Head and shoulders above anybody on the pitch that day.

Other memories of that game was Curled aggressively manhandling Peter Crouch out of the game and Monty scoring a goal!
