Brayford

As well as Freeman has done this season, we need to realise that as a team we are likely to have less possession and have to do much more defending if we achieve promotion. Not exactly Freeman's strongest attribute or Brayford's for that matter.

Was at The Sty last night with my Burton supporting mate (I know! Hang my head in shame!!). The Beard played in centre defence as part of a back five (FLN at his adventurous best!) so no trademark marauding runs. Thought he was ok but nothing outstanding although it is a league higher of course.
Nice to see Burton "do a job" on the Piglets with relative ease. Came for a point and got it! On that showing not impressed by the Grunters. Long hanging balls towards Rhodes looked like Plan A, B and C. No real creativity although with 10 Burton players behind the ball it wasn't easy.

Aye Brayford of old appears to be gone now, and Clough uses Brayford in a central role and perhaps that's his best position now, given injuries and he did start at centre back. Clough started playing Brayford there in his latter days at the Lane didn't he. I don't believe he is anything special at centre back, and I'd rather save his wages, hopefully get a fee for him and wish sell him to Burton. Its a shame that he turned out to be a bit of a Phil Starbuck (for those who remember his amazing loan spell and then average permanent spell) but we should remember him for the great cup run and leave it at that.

I don't mind his love affair with Clough, Harry Bassett used to sign players more than once on a frequent basis and we never accused them of been brown nosing Harry. Glynn Hodges, Alan Cork, Kevin Gage, Tony Agana, spring to mind.

Freeman is better.

Whether we can get a decent fee for Brayford or not depends on if some poor bastards of a Championship club larger or better off than Burton are conned into appointing Clough or not in the summer.

If we can get our cash back for Brayford then sell but I'm quite happy having him back, imagine if Freeman gets a long term injury? We'd struggle to find a better RWB for the Championship than Brayford. We can't forget how good he was when on loan. He can be that player again.

Has been Burtons stand out player this season. In the Championship.

We need to add Championship quality players to our team.

No brainer.

We should take him back just to shaft Burton. Like it or not we got to assume we'll be fighting with them at the lower end of the League

I'd like to have him back in our squad and agree that if Freeman was to become injured he'd be perfect to cover for him. However I can't see it happening, the only chance we'll see him playing for us again will be as a first team player, he ain't going to want to sit on the bench as he's too good in the Championship so I could see him putting in a transfer request in that scenario, and you couldn't blame him either.

Where does this assumption that we're going to struggle next season come from? Weak spots will be strengthened and as for the strikeforce, there's some firepower up there to choose from, better than most in that division I'd say.

I can't see Brayford being here next season. He does not seem to fit in with current managements plans. However good we seem to remember him being, he is not wanted for whatever reason. They want him off the payroll and gone. He will be one of this close seasons outgoings to make room for players they have already decided they prefer. Hope Burton cough up for him, but don't expect to get half what we paid . He is thriving there and will want to stay.

Brayford won't be returning he's unable to even train anymore due to his knees. He hasn't trained all season just plays the games and he was only good because of his attacking not really the best of defenders and seen as this is his game now due to not being able to get up and down wilder wants rid.

Hopefully the bloke who does our medicals on new signings nowadays is better than the last few.

Definitely mate but Brayford did get his playing for us (swindon play off ) unfortunately he's not the same player although we have a excellent player with Freeman just needs more competition to get the best from him next season i reckon but not Brayford .

But he just received player of the season from a team a division above. Are you stating facts here as ITK? Just seems a bit of a supposition that the bloke can't train, just plays games but is good enough to win their player of the season?

If he is good enough and is on our books wouldn't we be better off with him?

Don't want him back, bad karma to have 'Clough's little boy' hanging around the place

He'll be gone in the summer probably in a swap deal for McFadzean as Burton won't be able to finance the fee we'll want.

Would rather have Irvine but can't see Clough letting him go. Suppose it depends how much he wants his son permanently.

Surely we need to be doing better than McFadzean now we're up?
