I agree that debate is good for any forum and things do tend to get out of hand when things degenerate down to personal insults or even Argos car park battle grounds.

But spare a thought for others who love this forum that connects us all to our great club and not forgetting Foxy & Linz who must at times must think they're running a kids crèche while commenting to each other over a coffee " The kid's are playing up again ".

LYDON looks like the picture above Scatman Crothers' bed in the Shining. I approve.

A few thoughts:

  • Why can't some adults debate without resorting to name-calling?
  • Why can't some people respect the rules that Foxy and Linz put in place?
  • Why do some people feel hatred towards certain Blades players, irrespective of how well they play or how much they try?
  • Why can't some people accept that people have differing opinions to their own?
  • Why do some people feel the need to patronise others in order to get their view across?
  • Why can't some people treat each other how they would if they met each other in real life as HighfieldBlade alluded to? I bet people wouldn't act how they do on here to each other in person.
  • Why can't some people accept that we're all Blades and we all want the same thing?

Cockney started it yesterday with his Mr Angry rant and then lots of people seemed to go mad for three hours.

It was like that episode of the twighlight zone were the aliens just sat and watched the humans tear themselves apart over nothing.

Alcohol, sometimes

There's usually a free exchange on here that I think we'd all appreciate and value. But sometimes the bar is raised to levels that become intensely personal. I've been as guilty as any other poster in this respect, often the passions flow, the belief that an opinion needs to be responded to, and suddenly the tone and words escalate in ways that seem more relevant of the need to be proved right, rather than in defence of the original point.

Yesterday was exceptional. I don't stand in judgement of anyone, but sometimes it's impossible to ignore the vindictive nature of posters who only seem able to comment on one very unpleasant level. I'm not someone who believes that because we support the same team that we should extend courtesies for the sake of it. If a point is raised that we disagree with then that's why the forum exists, and there's certainly no hesitancy where this is concerned, Returning to the beginning of this paragraph, I noticed levels of hostility that were just one step from a display of violence. It puzzles me because we're not discussing the trials and tribulations that exist in the Middle East, it's football, plain and simple.

Sometimes I get the feeling that there's a tribal craving for something above the usual exchange of compliments, corrections, or even disagreements. Yesterday confirmed this in ways that I hope are rare occurrences, and not a sign of things to come. There's no subtext here about censoring anyone (that's not my responsibility), but I do wish that the synchronising of mind, lips, and fingertips, would be more evident on here. Isn't it more productive to construct a sentence or two along the lines of a well thought out message that doesn't allude to someone else's parentage, or whether they are genuinely related to the male or female genitalia, or whatever else the poster imagines is a quip worthy of a street poet. No points for imagining what this sort of poster will think in response to my thoughts, and I, as much as anyone on this forum, employ the flowery aspects of the English language more than most. But when trite, ill-considered comments quickly dashed off, replace taking a few minutes to consider what they intend to say, then that's when the quality of some of this forum takes a turn for the worse.
Sounds like the Pope on Christmas day ;-)

I was both suprised and disappointed that what was a genuine op was taken to be equivalent to thowing a pigs head into a Mosque.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and that was mine. Disagree all day long, that's normal and healthy, but I don't feel the abuse was justified and frankly I'm sick of the 2 stalkers Lincoln Blade and Top Cat,(Geetarman).
I don't have anything to apologise for and if my opinion upsets anyone that's there problem not mine. I disagree with a lot I read on here but try and argue a counter point. I will admit to extreme sarcasm, but that's just my humour be it on a forum or face to face.
Any manager or fan should want to see the perfect display every week from their team. Of course that isn't possible but if it isn't aimed for then that team will not progress and succeed.
We got 3 vital points yesterday. There were a good number of areas we were poor in and only by addressing them will they be improved on.
I've said it before but if it's only acceptable to post sycophantic babble then a forum has no merit or purpose whatsoever.
No-one on here is a bigger Blade than anyone else and the differences of opinion expressed only echo those aired in countless pubs around the City.
You did describe brownie and one other as "bellends".

There's no "of late" about it. It's quite simply a nasty piece of work, is the shithouse.

Duly reported, for the good of the forum and to avoid a tedious slagging match.

Please try to join the realm of the civilised.

My inbox is open if you've anything to say....

Shame you couldn't utilise it earlier, or the ignore function.

It's regrettable that such action has to be resorted to but standards have to be maintained and you should adhere to the rules.

Please use this experience as an opportunity to reflect, to heal and to grow.

Your tactics are nothing if not transparent. About as subtle as a Bassett team-talk. If you think you're fooling anyone you're even dafter than I thought and, believe me, that's quite an achievement.

Go ahead, present yourself as a victim in best Liverpool fashion. Bleat to Foxy in a nauseatingly but conspicuously disingenuous way then wait a few weeks and you'll be back with the snide, abusive garbage that you have consistently inflicted on the forum. It's no co-incidence that all the unpleasantness has surfaced since your arrival, Tiger.

As I say, you're fooling no-one, particularly Foxy, who will have access to all your malicious, vindictive antecedents.

Again, your anger does you no favours. I received my infraction earlier.

Hopefully a similar sanction will help you to keep in line with the ethos of this forum and show some respect towards others.

This is your opportunity to learn, take it.

In my view, once you turn to foul language or abuse you have lost the debate.

Those that do turn to foul language and abuse have no interest in reasoned debate, they just have a genuine belief that everything they say is right and anyone that thinks differently has something wrong with them.

I am always up for a good debate with anyone but once intransigence takes over than it all becomes a waste of time and effort.

In order for a debate to be successful all parties must be able to agree to disagree at the end of it whilst respecting the points of view of others.

Unfortunately too many people on internet message boards are too desperate to prove themselves right in the mistaken belief that this makes them better than anyone else.

The biggest shame is that when you get most entrenched over the top posters away from their keyboards they're very often very good, decent people.

I wonder if those embroiled in these abusive arguments have ever met in person. Chances are they'd be quite civil with each other I reckon.
You are not wrong there I once took up the invitation to meet someone who on a certain forum could not agree with anything I said as he was pro Warnock at the time while I hated his touchline antics, surprisingly we got on well, things said come across much different on the internet than they do face to face.

you are of course entitled to your opinion but unfortunately you appear to have no respect for those with different views, who are equally entitled to their opinions.

Whilst I didn't share your opinion on this occasion, I didn't feel the need to treat you in the way you treated those that had the temerity to express an alternative view to your own.
