It's obvious this is one of many types of players that needs to be brought in, but I haven't yet seen any suggestions fitting this mould.

Does anyone have any ideas of some of the players we ought to be looking at for this role?

Completely agree, we need a Connor Coady.

Coady wasn't what I'd call a 'box to box' midfielder, but Wallace was supposed to be his replacement... Still could be... One day... Not just for one day

A 'box to box' midfielder ought to be Lou Reed, but I think it's still a bit early for him.

Ideally we should be playing:

Wallace/ Coutts/ Hammond
Baxter
Reed/ scougall

Think box to box is exactly what coady is/was

Daniel Johnson and Ryan Woods 2 box to box midfielders we could have easily signed last season but wont be able to now. Maybe some we could get now are; George Moncur, Conor Hourihane or Sam Mantom.

Always saw him as a bit more or a defensive midfielder
I remember the manager saying he needed to add goals to his game so maybe he was more defensive minded than I recall, but you don't strike the ball as well as he did -have the composure and touch too and not grow into a brilliant box to box midfielder.

I've not seen him since he left us so don't know if that's what he is now.

Sam Morsy or Conor Hourihane. Both should be easily achievable targets too

Really? Are some of you seriously seeing Sam Morsy as a 'box to box' midfielder?

Towards the back end of the season he was more "box-to-box", this was following Doyle's red card when he came back a totally different disciplined Defensive Midfielder. It gave Coady the freedom to push up.

Thinking back to the Charlton Quarter Final. He was M.o.M that day and had 2 goals disallowed. That was Coady at his best for me.

When did he sign for Wolves?

Yep. He was both during his time for us so Swiss and Judge are both right, here. I wasn't that impressed early on but he grew into a real midfielder. I will rue that week for a long time where his value dropped by 75% and we missed the sale.

beginning of the season i think

personally id look at someone like paul green shit in championship fro rotherham but would be good in league 1 seen him play a few times and he seems like a box to box midfielder could be a place to start looking

Ryan Colclough from Crewe. Young and scored 6 goals from midfield playing for a bottom of the table side.

Romaine sawyers at walsall has looked good this season, the right age also (24) .
