Bolton v Bury

After the start they made, and the disastrous slump that seemed to have killed them off, it would be funny if Scunthorpe ended up in 2nd place. But with matches against Swindon and Coventry to come they could still, just, do it.

Realistically, though, Bolton should beat Port Vale, who are hopeless, and Peterborough, who seemed to give up ages ago. If they can't win those two they deserve to fail. Fleetwood have Gills away and Vale at home.

It's tight, and great fun to observe with a smug, self-satisfied expression on our faces.

Fair play to you there mate. Football can be such a twat to us all that sometimes you just have to laugh. Trust me, us Blades know a thing or two about this.

It's still in your hands though.

Yeah I know mate, I couldn't imagine spending 6 years in this shit league.
I think our fans would lose their heads.

I don't really understand all this now

Sure a bit of rivalry when we were battling it out in first and second was ok

But it's over now, forget about it

Seriously though, it's a no brainer, we'd still rather be in their position, right ?
Well every club in the league would swap with them and I just wish we could have swapped so that we would now be shitting ourselves playing long ball instead of being 15 points ahead and champions -its just not fair !!

"Long time lurker here, fan for 40 years. Just got back from the most atrocious game of football I've ever seen. Promotion has long gone. Forget about it. League one next year will be a massive relegation scrap without major investment. I'd put my house on us being relegated to league two this time next year and you can quote me on that!"

quote from a bolton fan :D:D funny as fuck !

They've been pathetic in the run in. Two 0-0 draws v Chesterfield and Bury and a 1-0 defeat at Oldham....

Really limping over the line

Sadly they play a dreadful Port Vale side away Saturday and a Peterborough side already on the beach (been there most of the season). I think they may get the 4 points they need from those two sadly buf if they do dip Saturday and Fleetwood win then it is out of their hands going into the final day.

Fleetwood have a game at Gillingham and then play the same Vale at home. I reckon they will get 4-6 points from those.

Nice to just sit and look at it.

Be interesting the playoffs. Thought Bradford were poor, Scunny been really crap since Xmas and then we have Bolton or Fleetwood - the latter maybe more in form.

I actually think whoever gets in out of Southend or Millwall will have the momentum and go up.

Bolton have now failed to score in three consecutive games. Two of those games were against relegation threatened teams. They also failed to score at home against Chesterfield just 18 days ago.

Port Vale have been poor of late, but so have Bolton. That game is not a gimme for Bolton.

Peterborough have no pressure and have beaten Bolton in their earlier fixture.

Fleetwood could easily win both of their games. They are not expected to go up and are not under the same amount of pressure as Bolton

If we were in Bolton's position we would be worried. Very worried.

Looking at the fixtures I actually think if anyone will catch them it will be Scunthorpe and how I hope they do. It would be hilarious.

It's the hope that kills you, that's why any of us keep the faith and ultimately what breaks our hearts when things don't go well. It's come good for us, finally. New challenges ahead now though and next season will be full of ups and downs.

For folk that can't be arsed reading let me summarise: we ain't getting promoted from league one. This season. Or next. Or the one therafter. No need for anymore bolton chat on this forum, ever. We're about as irrelevant to you now as a an iPhone is to a woolly mammoth. Good night, god bless.

That's the spirit.

Does anyone know the record. It's going to be a lot more, more likely 18 I reckon?

Biggest gap this decade is 9 points. Norwich in 2010 and Wolves in 2014.
I can't be arsed to look any further back than that.
I don't really follow lower league football ;)

Port Vale are far from hopeless at home. The only reason they are in relegation trouble is because of their away form. 80% of their points have come from home matches. They have only managed 9 away points.

If I was a Bolton fan I would be a little bit worried.
