Sure a bit of rivalry when we were battling it out in first and second was ok

But it's over now, forget about it

"Forget it?" - we haven't even got started.

I still hate Wigan for 2007, Bristol City for 1988, Walsall for 1981, Manyoo for 1971 and that bloody Bestie goal that gets played all the time, as well as the obvious Wendy / DirtyLeeds / CheatinAmmers etc etc.

Life's too short? Agreed.

It's certainly not long enough to fit in the teeming well of hatred that I have for most of the other 91 clubs and I haven't even started on the Frogs, Krauts or Eyeties yet.......

Scunny have had their own internal squabbles.
The arrival of one or two in January upset the harmony of the squad and it was that harmony that had done them so well pre Christmas. Not that some bad lads arrived, it was just the arrival changed the expectations of players and some were moved out and felt treated a little harshly. A rumoured multi million pound deal for the Dutch fella didn't help matters either.
As a few key players then had injuries, and we kept winning the pressure mounted and when they finally cracked a series of poor results have cost them. But with what is a very big budget for a club with the revenue of Scunny their chairman is exerting a bit of pressure.

However.....there has been signs lately of a return to what they know. A more settled side and a unity to get the job done. Scunny will win their last two games so need a favour from someone. I hope they do it, but if not I back them in the play offs. Bradford are very neat and tidy, and only weak defensively to good movement...as we saw. But have nothing up front.
Millwall are strong at home but nowt special. Bolton in the play offs will implode.

If I was to have a bet.....I reckon Bolton will get 2 more points. Fleetwood will nick it. Scunny in the play offs.....happy days.

You know what, Bolton remind me of us when we first arrived in this division. Well, a year or so after the sexy football of the Ched season. Devoid of a plan, devoid of any really quality, eyesore football. Somehow near the top of the division but very much unconvincingly limping towards the end of the season, hoping to hold on and hoping to just clinch promotion, and that other sides won't catch us. All the while looking like doing absolutely anything but playing decent football or even scoring a goal. The sort of era when we relied on Creswell, Porter and Kitson for goals. Their main striker is Madine for crying out loud, how dire and depressing is that? He's awful. Their tactics are kaput, their manager is tactically awful and a has-been and they, like us are still massively over budget and if they stay down, they need to trim a god awful squad even further to be more financially stable. Sound familiar? If they fail to get out of league one at the first time of asking, they could be here for some time. Trust us, we'd know.

Absolutely spot on....and why it was obvious to me at least why we were going to win the league this time. We would have had to have had 3-4 key players (Fleck, Coutts, Bash, JOC) injured to derail us. We were so much better than ever....even under Wilson there was always a vulnerability about us that proved in the end. Then we relied on ONE player....this season at least 8 players made huge impressions in the season.

I think you're right, Fleetwood will nick and Bolton will offer nothing in the playoffs. I think Scunny are competitive again at the right time to make the playoffs interesting but it may be too little too late. I think Millwall will be a genuine play off test for anyone, they've got mettle. Bradford actually have more up front in Wyke than your post would suggest, IMO. They offered little against us, but could trouble others.

Bolton could try this ...................

..............................................................I'm not laughing, honest.

A rumoured multi million pound deal for the Dutch fella didn't help matters either.

I'm not surprised. He could be forgiven for kicking up a stink. I'd do the same. When will he ever have an opportunity like that again?

If they really rejected £4m they're absolutely bonkers.

Tough one for their fans - they scrape through but then are stuck with Parky; they miss out and he gets the sack..... given the choice, which would we choose in their shoes?

Why is he nicknamed washing machine? Sorry it's lost on me other than it rhymes

I'd quite like Bolton to go up. Means only two remaining relegation spots to avoid next season.
It's going to be a struggle for them. I don't know how much their owner is worth but he's put a lot of money in to cover losses this season. If he can't afford to do the same next season they'll be in trouble. Loads of players out of contract and presumably on big money, who'll probably get released. A lot of recruitment to do, presumably on a similar budget to this season (I think projected losses for this season were around £8m and they'll get £5/6m for going up).

Unless their owner is prepared to stick another substantial sum in, they're going to have one of the lowest wage bills in the championship. They'll need to be very well run to cope with that.

Wigan just did the job they had to do to save themselves
We got great support from Dave Whelan the Wigan Chairman and the Wigan fans too regarding the Tevez affair

Maybe so, but I'm still allowed to hate them.

Fulham too, but they are still cockney gits, Mohammed Al Fayed is still a knob and their Jackson statue is hilarious.

Anyone else that I 'ought to to like'?

Hello scunthorpe fan here,

Our season started off great and then nose dived pretty bad, it was clear why the signings in January really upset the cart we signed two strikers when we really didn't need to instead of signing say another defender because we only had 3, we are down to two at the moment since we got an injury on our 3rd, The signings are turning out okay however when Ivan Toney first signed people refereed to him as"Ivan Ameobi" after the worst player I have seen playing football called "Tomi ameobi" but now he is playing really well. we also signed Craig Davies who is just awful

also in regards to the 4 million pound offer it was just a rumour that some Chinese people were interested in signing Kevin VAN veen but the 4 million pound figure was made up not sure by who though.

we have had alot of up and downs in this sort of 10 year span promoted to the championship, relegated to league 2, then playing crap football for a year or two finishing places like 15th and such but now we are actually heading somewhere . I will happily take the play offs ask anyone at the start of the season supporting scunthorpe united we would all snap their hand off, Graham needs a year to clear out the players that he wants to get rid off and bring in his own since most of the current players are not his signings. We might get promoted still so maybe we will see you next year

You guys deserve to be promoted and i'm pleased for you you have spent so long in this division you deserve some success, you lot should do fine in the championship few additions and you're there at least top half finish. Don't listen to the wednesday fans saying it's like La Liga they are only saying that because they have failed to get out of it all this time.

Come on you can't keep hating all your life. Get rid of the bitterness it's doing you no good. Show some forgiveness.

By the way .... you missed out Coventry.

Thanks for the scunny update hope you finish above bolton! Can we have David Mirfin please your only decent centre half and another true blade!

We have had mirfin ahwile now he is getting on a bit think he is 32 now but is still a very good CB he had an injury and we missed him alot. even throughout the times when Mark Robbins said he wasn't very good he stuck by us very good professional I wouldn't say he is our only good centre half. Murray Wallace has played every single minute or our campaign so far, He is an outstanding CB and is only 24 not that you should try and take him of us either though,
