Bogle

Change the system into a 4-2-3-1 or 4-1-3-2 and play Bogle as the right prong of the three and he'll thrive. Play him as a defender in a four or five and he'll be dog poo, as he always has been in defence.

Great on the ball going forward, awful in defence. Why Wilder continues to use him in defence I'll never know. Fans and local pundits keep saying he's been our most improved and consistent player since Wilder returned, but he's been awful defensively throughout.

Not good enough, thick as shit and will be injured for at least 30% of next season.

Trigger his 1 year extension and try and get whatever we can for him.

Who's going to buy him?

Bogle has too little positional discipline to be an effective defender.
I see him turning up attacking on the left flank and think "what on earth are you doing there mate ?"
Wilder was a RB yet he can't see this ?
By all means play him further forward (but we don't use wingers).
So he's a bad fit for us.

He's likely going to be here next season. Will Wilder change the formation or will he continue with his tried and tested 3-5-2?

I doubt Wilder knows himself - some of his selections & substitutions have been quite strange imo.
I have no confidence that he has any kind of plan or the financial means to implement it.
There are players who will mess us around all summer , hanging on to see what better deals they can get elsewhere , with the result that Wilder won't even be sure of who's staying or going until it's too late for him to create a blended squad.
Take Anel , Hamer , Blaster or Souza as examples - if we don't know what £ is coming in from their possible sales , we'll be left scratching around at the end of the window.
Unfortunately the players have all the power in modern football and clubs like us , without spare £ , have great difficulty making plans.

I think Chris knows exactly what he wants to do next season, as I’m sure Hecky knew what he wanted to do last season.
Whether he will be given the right players or the money to do so remains to be seen.

I think he's improved defensively this season tbh, not saying much from how poor he has been but he seems to be in the right place more often at least and has had some decent moments defending one on one with pacey wingers. I think a good leader in defence to tell him when he's in the wrong place will do a world of good.

Sometimes wonder if fans want to see the club in the second division. Get rid of all of them and rebuild.
Yes maybe needed but it has to happen over a period of time, we are not Forest, so had to happen in a different time scale.
Fans comment on our Brazilian emotional outbursts, then do the same.
Good to know this site is therapy for many

He wouldn’t be my first choice, however, it takes more than the starting 11 to make a squad. No chance we should let him go.

I assume Wilder keeps using him in defence is because he's a defender and always has been.

Plenty of modern right backs aren't great defensively, Bogle is certainly a good enough right back in the Championship.

He can't defend, and its not as if he is Trent Alexander Arnold going forward. I would be interested to see his stats, as I don't feel that he contributes more than say Lowe on the opposite wing.

Personally don't understand the criticism Bogle gets from some.

Seems like because he's good going forward people think he must therefore be an awful defender. He's alright defensively not outstanding but nowhere near abysmal and he's very good going forward, has good feet and a knack for scoring goals.

He's pretty much the least of our worries and if anything I'd be more concerned that we don't have him tied to a longer contract than wanting to get rid. Bogle + Hamer is a really strong right side combination at championship level.

The team as a whole is dysfunctional and defensively weak. That doesn't mean we need better defenders in every position. If we can sort out the back 3, get a couple midfielders in and and a reliable wingback on the other side then Bogle will look a lot better.

The only potential concern for me is his fitness but he's a had a good record for a little while

I actually asked who Lowe had come on for yesterday as i genuinely hadn't realised he was playing and it was only when he came off that i noticed!

For all of Bogle's defensive faults, he's been better than Lowe over the last few years

Bogle is ok in the Championship for defensive work, but not in the Premier League. We've also had terrible RCB's this season until Holgate came in and stedied things a little. but even he's not managed to nail down that slot, sadly.

Bogle has done enough this season to be part of our ongoing plans (if he wants it... I think I read somewhere he has interest elsewhere).

I think he has actually improved defensively, maybe as part of a strong defensive unit he might actually do better but he is currently either the spout or handle on a chocolate teapot of a defence. He is partly to blame for this but possibly he has been the least worst part of the defence this year?

There is no way we are going to have enough money/sense in the summer transfer window to get rid of bogle and somehow replace with a better player and suitable cover now Baldock as gone too. I am aware of Seriki but not sure I have heard enough to go into a new season with a new RB and him as cover?

Defending one on one he's OK, the problem is that his positional play and anticipation isn't good enough, so things like yesterday can be put on him, he also trots back rather than busting a gut. It's not helped with Anel next to him who has in general, switched off most of the season. And to make things worse, the left hand side of defence isn't as good as the right!

Hes got the most goals as a defender in the PL for us ever. Can't remember a Lowe assist.

Bogle is what he is. A winger by trade shoe horned into a defensive role. There is no doubt going forward he is a threat. Defending he's a liability as yesterdays first 2 goals proved. Should we get rid. No. He can be developed into an effective wide right midfield player if we abandon the formation obsession with 3-5-2. Unfortunately thats where the problem lies. The manager after insisting in his first game that he'd proved he could pick a back four soon went back to his favoured formation. That Liverpool game was Bogles best performance as an orthodox full back.

Bogle doesn't have the energy, engine and pace Baldock had so struggles getting up and down the pitch when playing RWB. His positional sense is poor when defending with him constantly drifting inside alongside the RCB leaving the opposition wide left forward free. We have conceded so many times down this side as a consequence. Gordon for the barcodes destroyed him at the Lane and he's gone backwards since. Yet he is one of the few players we have who can run directly at the opposition from midfield. Thats an asset we need to nurture in a 4-2-3 -1 formation, unfortunately its unlikely to happen within the present coaching set up.

Doesn't take a genius to see Bogle is good offensively but not defensively.

He's one of the few players we have who can beat a man.

I absolutely do not want to let him go.

He didn't look too clever trying to beat a man for their first goal yesterday.

Can't post links from this PC but Brewster posted a possible cryptic message tagging Bogle in saying, "was fun whilst it lasted".....

I just went to Instagram and found this. Clearly talking about a holiday ending 😄
