But the Premier League is an entertainment, or even lifestyle, package is it?
It's not really about sport. Or at least a very big selling point is not the sporting aspect of whatever is going on.
There's a preposterous* amount of hype which why his what sells to very large numbers of people beyond the fans of the club and/or the game.
I find it unwatchable and genuinely preferred the u9s and u10s games I watched as a coach, but Sky never came in with a bid of £100 trillion or whatever it was for the TV rights so I guess this is a minority view.
Foulkes Jr Sr raves about it. To me it's showbiz.
*Or not that preposterous - as it clearly works.
WHF well put . To me the 90 minutes football is becoming secondary . Football has become the side show with the circus , news , rumour , hype , Show biz taking over , as number 1 package .
Its become a well rehearsed , polished sports East Enders , Coronation Street rolled into one , with a flick of a channel the same for cricket , motor racing .
With good advertising and PR , we have become brain washed that we are privileged watching the best sport in the world . All a bit americanisation , with obscene salaries , all out of control.
Yours is not a minority view , but we all buy into it , because of the love of football. In saying that , i am watching less and less actual 90 minutes of the premier league match coverage , which 9 times out of 10 bores me shitless.
I don't even watch MOTD anymore.
Would i think differently , if we were in the premiership , don't really know , but nice to have the chance , to find out.
