When I was growing up , a common phrase used about people who easily felt the cold was " 'E must 'ave blood like chip shop vinegar "
This was not in relation to any particular brand or the fact that it was non brewed condiment. It related to the fact that, since vinegar was a relatively expensive commodity at the time, many chip shop owners watered it down to make it go much further.
Incidentally , although we've had Sarsons for all our married life , Mrs. Joe came home with another brand a few months ago. When we tried it , even she had to admit it was truly disgusting whereupon it was consigned to the bin and she was issued with a Scarborough Warning.
