Blades living in S6

I lived on Middlewood road between 1977.and 1983 then moved to Kelvin Flats think that's S6, always masses of Blades. The Wyn Gardens estate seemed to have more Blades.

I lived within a stones throw of Hillsborough Corner until I was 18 (born and bred a Blade, 4th generation), never felt too outnumbered to be honest as within my circle of mates it was never worse than 50-50 for those that followed a local team. School (Myers Grove) was the same, in fact of vocal footie fans most were Blades. I always remember a crackin teacher we had in 6th Form who was quite new to the school having moved from a 'Blades area' school (can't remeber which one) and a Blade himself, telling us how amazed he was that Myers had so many Blades, he said that it was pretty much 100% Blades on the other side of the city. Made me feel even more proud to be a Blade.

Lived and brought up in S6 from day one till leaving home for Walkley (still S6) at 18. went to Wisewood from 98-03 great place to grow up. had everything, being a blade in S6 just added to it.

always lived in sheffield 5 whitehorse and gate were my locals never got any grief from tbe real owls fans onlly the tosser fans who only went once a year .there were a fair few of us and remember packing the whitehorse before a derby match zo many blades pigs had to go elsewhere and one derby match we wefe in new bridge inn and bob booker came in with his kids he asked me if it was alright to come in and i replied we are all blades here bob it was when we beat tbem 3 .1 utb

Lived in Stannington until I was 21. Back then there seemed to be more Pigs around (30% Blades / 70% Pigs ??), but on average the Blades were more committed - a lot of the Pig "fans" never ventured to the Sty, or only took a passing interest in football.

Sure we must have known each other SNB. Same age and I was a Myers lad myself though the lure of cash and a lack of revision meant I skipped the 6th form bit! Was Marsden or Furniss your year tutor?

our first home we could afford in 1973 was on Wynyard road opposite the park , was surprised how many blades lived in the area
paid 6250 pounds for it.lived there for 4 years until moving to chapeltown to a newer bigger 3 bed house that was 18950 pounds
sold that 10 years later for 65000

believe its a little harder to get on the property ladder now

my older brother bought his first house a brand new 3 bed semi in kiveton in 1964 for 2000 quid
then 20 years later paid twice as much for new double glazing
Bladetolong I think you should have posted this on zoopla or rightmove.

i used to live on lancing road and i was the same girlfriends house is 2 mins walk away
New a lad called Mick Peters on lancing road in the early 70's, bad lad, not interested in football until he met me and I got him going to the lane,

Brought up in S14 all my life. Junior school was almost 100% Blades (Hemsworth) but when I joined the seniors we were joined with the utter baseness and evil from Bankwood (100% squealers) and Herdings (about 85% bacon) so we were outflanked by pork product on all sides.

My sister lived in Dutton Road, bang opposite the gates to Swillsborough Park. She worked at Abrafract, on Beulah Road. My ex-brother in law (and later, my nephew too) are the biggest, baddest, nastiest Blades from Darnall/Manor you'd like not to fuck with. We all used to fuck off into the sty for the last quarter of an hour on a Saturday just to revel in them being battered at home when I stayed round at theirs on occasion.

My brother in law made The Sportsman on Penistone Road his local. Great beer in there.

I grew up in Hillsborough and went to primary school there. Out of a class of about 30 kids I was the only Blade and from what I remember there were about 20 full time piggies, more than half of which went to games regularly. They were also in the Premier League for the entirety of my seven years there whilst we were in the league below.

It doesn't get much harder than that, yet I was a season ticket holder at the lane the whole time and was proudly vocal about my allegiance. I live far from Sheffield now and don't get to that many games but anyone that says I'm not the biggest Bladiest of Blades can read the above and do one.

My dad worked for more than 30 years on the buses in Sheffield, working out of the Olive Grove bus depot. He and his mate would often do the "Football Specials" up to Swillsborough and would get complimentary tickets to the match and then do the return journey back into town. Being Blades, though, neither of them took up the offer to watch the pigs.

Lived in Stannington all my life (Bradfield School 01-06), and as mentioned by others, although it's predominantly pork up here the diehard football fans were generally Blades.

I'm actually finally getting away this week as i'm moving away from Sheffield (still close enough to get to the match every week!), but I still keep in touch with my old school pals and I regularly see 2 or 3 of them up and down the country following United whilst the pigs either remortgage their houses to attend the odd home game or are busy telling everyone how massive the pigs are on social media from the comfort of their front rooms.

Percy and his brother, Mick, were Blades mate, am sure there were others, though not as many as Hemsworth.

S36 born & bred. You'd expect it to be mostly pigs here but it's probably a fairly even split TBH, there's certainly a lot of Blades, and I reckon I can count on one hand the number of pigs I know round here that actually go to the games.

Can't remember tbh but neither of them ring a bell - I did O levels 1983 if that helps in terms of timeline. Notable teachers were Mr Kirkman (Geography, barking mad but top bloke), Cassidy (Music - equally barking - once swung from rafters in assembly to get kids attention to make us sing), Smith (top bloke, aforementioned Blade). Happy days (mostly).

You were probably in the year above me then. Kirkman was off his rocker. Cassidy played the organ at my wedding (with Snell in the choir). Cassidy later did time for "interfering" shall we say...... and luckily I got divorced. Bumped into a couple of teachers over the years and know Yates is still alive

My father-in-law, an ageing Dutch immigrant with no understanding of football whatsoever, moved to Stannington last year from rural North Yorkshire, so my wife gave him a red and white scarf as a christmas present. He said he got so much abuse from pigs on the bus to and from town that he's stopped wearing it. Took him a while to figure out why total strangers were calling him a c**t, but now he has a much better understanding of English football...

Live in Stannington myself and have done all my life, save for a year up Wisewood. Like a few have said the majority are pigs up here but there's plenty of Blades too and they are of the time served, hardcore variety.

My mates are an even mix of pigs and Blades. I can talk football and even Wednesday with the pig ones but not United with them, gets me too angry.

Always a bit wary of drinking down hillsborough as certain pigs down there know me and know of the odd incident in town like but generally ok down there and besides it's rare I venture down to those shitholes these days.

True, but a lot from down that end were unclean. Perce and Mick were exceptions being Blades. I can't think of any others from down the bottom of the Valley.

I've always thought it would be interesting to see a map of the concentration of Blades/Wednesday fans. I am sure it still is a pretty much north/south Sheffield divide, but there are exceptions to the rule.

I'm originally from Rotherham (now live in Sheffield) and there's a large fanbase on both sides, however I'd say United edge it overall. But this can vary from one area to the next even there.

Things have obviously changed over the last 30 years then. When I was a nipper it was all Wednesday up there. There were only two of us in my entire year at school that were blades. Made for fun times.

There's plenty of them, but they don't count cause they probably couldn't even point to Hillsborough on a map.

Sorry to hear that. Those people giving him abuse need to get a grip on themselves.
