They already play there don’t they?

3,900 seems a lot. Sheffield FC don’t get that, chesterfield probably won’t get much more in the conf

I think the intention is for it to be used for other activities too in the long-term.

It's likely more economical to build a stand and facilities of that size now, then in the future and have to play catch up.

They already play there, my lad played a game on there a few weeks back. There’s currently just a small stand so I’m guessing the permission is to just build around the pitch. It’s 3G so the rugby players must struggle?

Plan is for Sheffield Eagles to play there as well

Isn’t calling the team Blades Ladies now considered sexist and offensive.
Many clubs are now changing or have changed their names from ‘ladies`; to “women”.

As mentioned in a previous thread I think “Bladies WFC” would be the best official club name for the women’s team.

Though to be fully inclusive it should be Blades non male football team. ;)

Beat me to it by seconds.

It's a state of the art one, got a fitted kitchen, lovely curtains and a dyson. What more could they want!!!!

Soft furnishings and hand stitched white lines on a green dresso

You think the ladies might get upset? Wait till you meet a TG, they're just waiting for you to look at them funny so they can start.

It is. Name changed last month.

I saw a TV in Fulham recently who was less convincing. Just a bloke in a dress that was so out of fashion only an Eastern European prostitute would even consider wearing it. If a bloke wants to dress as a woman, fine, up to them but at least make the effort.

So that would be all four points of Central Sheffield taken by Blades
Shirecliffe in the North
Crookes in the West
Don Valley in the East
Bramall Lane in the South

Very happy that a team carrying Sheffield United's name has a permanent base from which to develop.

Bad news for the woman-hating beta-males on the forum though.

Do people like that exist these days? Or is it a misunderstanding of humour?

Struggling to see what McCabe sees in this. Will he get a return on his investment? Doubt it.

I doubt the whole cost will be down to him admittedly but I’d rather he invested however much million he is putting into this in a new kop at the Lane.

It's all part of the master plan to get United even more in front of the piggy wigs in the city and raise our profile even more on a national level.

I'm all for it and think it's a great idea and make us more of a family club. Bottom line though is obviously the men's football club will always have precedence.

And I don't think for one minute that McCabe / Utd will be funding anything like £5m. Yes they will be putting in a few bob but the majority will probably be funded via government grants or sponsorship and we are bolting on some SUFC interest onto a legacy park that already has various amenities in place. Putting in place office space will also attract private sector income and help keep future costs down. Also pleased that Sheffield Eagles might finally.have a home feather than having to lead a nomadic life on the road living from hand to mouth. Mark Aston and the Eagles deserve all the credit on the world for still being here when many would have just packed it in. They also deserve more support from the city.

Clever by McCabe as it then almost becomes another club asset which is cheap to obtain. It's also in a decent place on the city for transport links.

Hopefully the women will do SUFC proud next season and I wish em the best of luck. Might even go down to watch em sometime on the Autumn.

Id say this is completely a McCabe thing, given what's going on I can't see him expanding united portfolio.

As long as that's the case it Can only be a good thing, we need all the clubs resources for Wilder.

when i first heard they were building a new football stadium in sheffield for 5 million
i thought, shit, pigs are getting a new ground.

Eagles already play there. They won at the weekend in front of 450 fans. There's also, as has been mentioned, a small stand and a clubhouse. Rest is standing, without terracing. So as I read it, the plan is to build a new stand.
