Burridge
Kenworthy-Stancliffe-Morgan- Borbokis
Duffy-Sabella- Brown- Roberts
Edwards - Agana

Sub
Deane, Brooks, Sharp, Bradshaw

Meant to add reasons for my favourite players over the past 40 years but ran out of time.

John Burridge- Loved his pre match warm ups, general craziness and his acrobatic saves making easy saves look spectacular.
Tony Kenworthy- Loved his arrogance and when he’d shape to play a back pass to the keeper but trick the attacker dribbling past him.
Stancliffe- Just remember his massive head and his he seemed to win every single header.
Morgan- like Stan the man, totally commanding in the air but also good on the ground, would run through brick walls for the team.
Borbokis- meant to be a full back but was great going forward. He would be perfect in Wilders current team, upgrade on Baldock.
Duffy- his cv is mainly non league and lower league football so have no idea why he now possesses so much class and intelligence.
Sabella- most skilful Blades player I’ve seen, up there with Maradona for skill but lightweight and slow,so could be kicked out of a game.
Brown- loved that season when he had everything, combative, creative and scoring goals.
Roberts- only played for us a few times but instantly stood out as a top winger with fantastic ability esp on the night we beat Newcastle.
Edwards- used to make me laugh how he;d be playing crap, hardly touch the ball but he’d STILL manage to score. Goal machine.
Agana- always preferred him to Deane, quicker, better dribbler and more creative than Deane but Deane was a physical presence like Gary Madine but with better skill and a better goal scorer,

There’s no Stancliffe, Brown or Edwards because they are in my team and none of my players were chosen.
It’s like playing that mastermind game with the pegs.

Or you could just listen to the podcast. My reasoning is mildly amusing in places and there's a great story about Harry Maguire in the play off final when Hull beat the gunters.

Lining up 4-1-2-3 ( as many of the most successful teams over the last 50 years have done ) :-

Five of my XI

One of my XI
Can't believe you didn't have Geoff Salmons in the frame for your left sided midfielder GB. Scored the first goal I ever saw at BDTBL on 4th April 1972 in a 1-1 draw with Man U.:)

Hope last Friday went well by the way, or as well as these things can do. At least up until about 9:30 anyway:rolleyes:

Tracey

Borbokis Maguire Morgan Quinn

Brown Jags McCall Whitehouse

Deane Sharp

Subs - Kelly, Wilder (got to have him in and around the squad lol), McGrath, Hodges, Fjortoft, Tonge, Montgomery

He'd have been up there if I didn't have such a soft spot for Jock.

It was one heck of a send off for t'owd lad. I read the words to Roy Harper's When An Old Cricketer Leaves The Crease and we even had the Rt. Hon. Richard Caborn speaking. Emotional, but what a day!

We all agreed that United's spectacular surrender in the last ten minutes was befitting for someone who'd had to watch them for nearly 80 years.

Pleased it went well. Love that piece by Roy Harper. I once got a lift to an away game with Dick Caborn, the man drives like an absolute lunatic!

One of my XI, unless you're playing my fave goalie in midfield (this applies to a lot of other posters' XIs).

It shows what shit left backs we’ve had when Nilsen is in so many teams (he’s in mine by the way). The only other one in my era would be Wayne Quinn but he wasn’t that good!
I thought the teams we were picking were our 'favourite' and not 'best' eleven?

My 11 is based on reasons personal to my experience watching United. My 'best' 11 would look completely different.
