Call this a rumour if you like but i have just had word that Kevin Blackwell has agreed to leave sheffield united and is to be replaced by Alan Shearer. This will not happen today or next week but Alan Shearer will take over before January after having talks with united about the transfer budget. Shearer will make his final appearance on MOTD this saturday before beginning his role with united. This has come about because new chief executive Trevor Birch made it clear to united he wasn't a fan of blackwell. United will release there pre tax profits over 5m that will give them a healthy transfer kity for Shearer.

Believe this if you like but it came from the same source that told me 3 weeks before that Cresswell would be joining.

Would be interested to see how this develops if anything. If something is imminent you would have thought the big rags would have picked up on something by now, especially as Shearer is involved

Please let this be true and please let this part NOT be true!?

Mobile, did you hear that Blackie would be walking and Shearer would be arriving? Or just that he would be walking??

Im not Blackwells biggest fan but I have been defending him recently as I believe most of his excuses are valid and we did well the last 2 seasons.

I've got a feeling that if true this move will be worse than getting Robson, Shearer has no real experience is quite dull and has no allegence to us in any way, he'll walk in piss all our money away the highest priced players he can find that will come (admitedly players will be more interested in coming if he is here) but he'll buy them because they're expensive and not because they will work in a chapionship team. Does he have any experience of the chapionship atall?

Once hes wasted our cash for the next few seasons the fans will turn on him and he'll leave us in the poo, then who will people be wanting?
If we are going to change the manager then please lets get someone with a record of getting out of the chapionship instead of someone with a big name.

Was in NOTW on Sunday.............

As unlikely as it is, if Shearer is coming in, it would mean we have cash (and likely investment in my opinion). That would make it a very good piece of news. He really can't be any worse than Blackwell either.

And for those saying he could be another Robson, he could just as easily be a success in the vein of Steve Bruce. Okay, Bruce was a chunt and not particularly brilliant for us, but there's little doubt he's a good manager.

I also hate to say the name, but we could end up with a similar level of success attained by Roy Keane's initial burst at Sunderland.

Forgetting all that though, Blackwell out will be good enough news for me.

Why are so many people saying that Shearer is Robson Mk2, the only similarities between the two are they are both Geordies and former England captains.

I think getting Shearer in would be quite intersting and exciting, where as we all new from the start Robson would be pants.

HAHAHA. I actually did Laugh Out Loud to that! :D
Me too! :)

Regarding Shearer. I'm not entirely convinced by his managerial abilities. But neither am I with Blackwell. Shearer's only young (in managerial terms) and would probably bring a lot more to the club than Blackwell does.

Oh... wait...
