What does Cannon offer? He matches Sharp when it comes to being a body on the pitch. Can he press? Nope, can he attack the ball? Nope. Can he do any basic requirement of a striker? Nope.No he wouldn't

What could Billy offer? He’d also be a body on the pitch, could he actually offer an out using his strength? Yep. Could he do other basic requirements? Yep.

I’ll go out on a whim and say a 40 year old Sharp would offer more than Cannon. Not in the Championship any more.

Add in both of their cup goals. We’ve collectively lost the plot as a football club if we’ve got some fans seriously considering bringing in 40 year old Billy Sharp as a genuine option up front.
He’s scored 7 goals in 37 games in League One, and more than half of those goals came in the last two games.
For what it’s worth that’s only 2 more goals than Cannon’s total from this season- in the division above.
Bloating the stats with cup games is a bit disingenuous. He scored 5 of those additional 7 goals in just 2 EFL Trophy games against League 2 teams, and one of the other cup games he scored in was also against a League 2 team.Add in both of their cup goals.
Cannon goes from 6 in 36 to 6 in 37.
Billy goes from 7 in 37 to 14 in 45.
I think he should come back and help the kids and/or strikers after one more season.
Drop to League Two and get the Millers back up or go somewhere and play alongside Didzy for a season.
Did we ever replace jack Leicester?Don't get me wrong, peak Billy is in a different league to Cannon, but that was a decade ago.
Coming back as forwards coach? Absolutely get him in.
Not sure, have heard nothing to that effect, although not sure what the foreign coach that we brought in doesDid we ever replace jack Leicester?
Ramos on the presser was brought in to strengthen the coaching staff, for a short time after we were better at set pieces especially corners so not sure if that is his thing ?Not sure, have heard nothing to that effect, although not sure what the foreign coach that we brought in does
Cannon is faster than Sharp in his prime. He doesn't read the game like Sharp but he is young and still learning. Personally I haven't given up on Cannon. It may not be working out for him right now but he definitely has some quality. His goal in our final game v Derby was class.
Maybe he could improve with Billy coaching him.

That was (still is) Billy’s ultimate strength is his ability to read the game. He just knew where the ball was going to be and made it look simple on so many occasions. Cannon makes some good runs but doesn’t have the spatial awareness, although he can get into good positions he needs to improve.Coaching only works when your intelligence goes further than “basic bodily functions needed to survive”. Aye. Thats why I genuinely think he’d do a better job, Sharps never had pace, but he’s had spacial awareness and a knack of getting in the right place at the right time, and an instinctive knowledge of where the net is subject to where he is, you can’t teach those things, you either have it, or you don’t. (In my opinion of course)That was (still is) Billy’s ultimate strength is his ability to read the game. He just knew where the ball was going to be and made it look simple on so many occasions. But I remember a time early in his career when Billy didn't have spatial awareness and was constantly being caught offside, that is why he went out on loan & ultimately we sold him. He then built his career through playing with R&D Doncaster. Modern day players rarely get that opportunity cos big clubs spend big money on potential and players don't get time to develop their careers upwards through the ladder. that is not a criticism of anything or anyone just the reality. That was (still is) Billy’s ultimate strength is his ability to read the game. How long does he need to improve, though? That was (still is) Billy’s ultimate strength is his ability to read the game. I don’t actually think Cannon has been too bad this season, but he’s been far from a great watch.Cannon is faster than Sharp in his prime.
