Billy Sharp

Unfortunately when fans have an agenda against certain players like Sharp, when the happens this type of vitriol comes out.

Anyone thought of putting pace next to Sharp like he had with beckford and Rodriquez

Pace? What's that? I can't remember, it's been that long since I've seen it. Anyway, forget all that silliness. Let's hoof the ball up the pitch and slag Sharp off for not doing enough.

Sharp divides opinion. I get it.

You don't rate him. I get that too.

Maybe he is past his best and the only way is down for him. Who knows.

If this is true, it's a bigger than big call by Wilder. Huge.

Can't wait for the lump it to Leon revolution to mesmerise tantalise and excite me in the coming weeks !!

Will the last one out the building switch the lights out.

As I say. Well done. You win.
We had him three times and only Robson and Adkins rated him. I would have him as an impact sub but he wanted regular starts

To me, the forward line needs an injection of pace and to be able to create its own danger not solely relying on others to put things on a plate.

If you swapped Sharp with Lavery then perhaps you would get that injection of pace and trickery and bring more out of others.

Understand what Sharp brings but there is a reliance on a number of others to be having a good game for him to be in any way effectual.

He did well to get 20+ goals. But let's also not forget that minus penalties, he got just one or two more than McNulty the previous year. And McNulty was in and out under Clough. Sharp played almost every minute under Adkins. He also went 10 or 11 without scoring at all. A period where another 5 goals could have seen us at least in the end of season shake up.

If he does go, maybe the team would function better. And it would probably be the last 5 figure wage off the wage bill too or at least another high earner.

It would be a shame for this not to be a happy ending for him and us as a partnership but I won't shed a tear if we can become a more dangerous team as a result.

Maybe this was what Sunjihi was referring to in his post the other day when he said something like, "this club is a complete and utter fucking shambles".

Clarke is older, doesn't score as many and has a worse injury record. He is just worse all round, but that's just what we do, isn't it.

You still get some daft twat praising the "good deal" that the club got, as our "best" players get shitter and shitter.

Was going to say the same, it would be easier to take if we had replaced him with someone younger or of higher quality, but an older inferior player just takes the piss!

We may have a wank side and end up being relegated, but most of you aren't seeing the positives...... We will have a really low wage bill. I mean what fan would rather have a quality team playing attractive winning football than a shite team which is cheap?? Some of you fans need to get with the plan!!

No he wasn't. He was just stirring it as usual. He could have been talking about anything to do with the club so please don't try and give any credit to him on this one.

I think he was just stating the bleeding obvious with that post!

Problem is, Leon Clarke's start to the season has been worse. That's what my worry is.

Clarke got man of the match v Rochdale mate, and since then he's playing in an unfamiliar deep role with little service to speak of. Clarke got 18 goals last season for a poor Bury team so he's no mug is he?

This, without a shadow of doubt, feels more and more like our relegation season of 6 years ago. The parallels are uncanny.

Clarke = Hendo.
This new pacy striker you all crave = Slew.

That worked well didn't it ??

This gamble will not work. Trust me, it won't.

To centre your entire offensive strategy around a player as ineffective as Clarke, who is also getting on a bit so won't improve, will backfire, spectacularly.

That's my prediction.

Give it 8 months.

Come back to me.

Tell me I was wrong.

But he's no Billy Sharp either is he?

Penalties don't count then ? I can't recall.Sharp missing three either. You call Sharp fat in another post. He is far from fat.
Why have you got a complete dislike for him ?
Missed twice against Colchester (although scored one in the re-take) and missed one in the JPT penalty shoot out

I dont dislike him but I was annoyed with Adkins instructing the team pass the ball to him many times last season and that was why other players didnt score many. We had the players to win promotion but our style of play was too slow! I did make a post in here last summer (supporting Bergen Blade 's post) that I was hoping that Adkins would sign a striker with pace rather than Sharp

I think Sharp will come good, he just maybe needs a rest to show that he isn't undropable and the likes of McNulty and Done can get a look in up front. It would be a mistake to sell him. he had a poor patch last season but came through the other side of it very well. I'd prefer Wilder to go over Sharp. At least Sharp is proven at this level.

I'm fine with Wilder deciding to have Clarke as the focus but more so if Clarke plays as the top man, not in the deeper role, although if we did have more pace in the team around Clarke then Clarke would look much better. I still really like Leon, I think he is worth making the centre of the attack but that said I would be sad to see Billy leave, he's done us proud and last season kept us from a relegation battle. Totally trust Wilder though, its inevitable that a new manager would shift players on, some we agree with some we dont. When Harry first came in we sold crowd favourite Peter Beagrie and released Colin Morris. That didn't turn out too badly in the end did it and is Wilder most influenced by?

No issue with Shaep going and I believe it's for the greater good. What i won't take is this shit he's getting. He needs a bit more respect than he's getting

....problem is ( well, one of them) this is shaping up to be a classic Sheffield United 'deadline day sale' with nowt coming in...

Hope not :(

Sharp, Adams, Brayford and possibly McNulty and/or Done all in the same transfer window. Even for Sheffield United, that is just unbelievable :(

If you're reading this Billy, get yourself a move to the Championship. These fans don't deserve you. A player who dropped down for the club he supports and was the only player who gave 100% last year, week in, week out.

This is laughable. All because a manager gives up on his tactics and plan for the team when Leon bloody Clarke becomes available.A man with more clubs than Justin Rose. A manager who reduces the size of the bloody pitch to suit his plan, giving us a disadvantage every bloody home game.

How many chances has Billy Sharp missed this season?
How many has Leon King missed this season?

I was not a huge fan of Sharp before he signed but some of the comments I've seen on here about him and other players this week have been laughable.

Seriously?

He's not played any worse or better imo and he prefers the deep role by all accounts. Just hope we get it right

4 games. Zero G. Zero A.

Assuming fit healthy and able to play 40 + games.

10 goals tops. And way fewer assists. A fat lad off the kop could get close to that with bounces and ricochets off his arse.

Utterley

Totally

Completely

Ineffective

Being cynical on all things football , could Billy not love the blades as much as he says . Doesn't want to be part of the Wilder revolution , and he and his agent are perhaps orchestrating a final last pay day move .

UTB

He was a Newcastle fan up until he got in the Blades academy

Why is it that the only defence for Sharp is the same old people harping know about his "20 goals last season"!?
So what, my lad scored 36 and he's only 10!
The fact is he isn't and isn't looking like scoring half as many at the moment! He has started the season badly, fair enough, the rest have too, but it looks to me like Wilder is trying to build a team to push on later in the year or even next season.
Ok were all fed up of being here, but we're not the ones stuck managing these players or the one it falls on when it goes tips up!
Wilder did well last year but his start to the season was a very similar affair, just before Xmas, Northampton were off the pace and not looking like a league winning side, it only took a few months to turn that round!!!
I think we should trust his judge, he won't want to let anyone down, he's one of us afterall!!

If we were playing as a team and looking like winning a game then the apathy of losing one of our prime assets wouldn't be around.

The fact that we look piss poor all over the place means that we might as well do something drastic as the alternative is just to stick with the routine of the first 4 matches - and that is only going one way.
