Billy Sharp

Writing clearly on the wall in this regard when Wilder subbed Sharp ahead of Clarke on Saturday when both had been poor.

You reep what you sow.

Looking forward to 3 years of Clarke and this AN Other chap you all seem to be raving about tearing L1 defenders a new un !!!

Lower than a snakes Hampton right now:(.

Sign Matty Taylor first and then sell Sharp, fine.

Anything else, no way.

It would be a massive shame to get the team functioning properly but not have Sharp to call on.

Come on that's not the Blades way.
Sell Billy and then try to get someone over the line but fail miserably, that's the Blades way.

No, it was getting the ball to Adkins' slow and fat son! Didnt get us promotion and I was right!!

What do you expect from a league one striker? I think a striker scoring much more than 21 goals is pretty unrealistic.

Sharp did his job. We didn't go up because we had no goals in midfield, a defence that couldn't defend etc etc etc.

We were promotion favourites last season. I did make a post in here last season that I didnt think Sharp would be a key signing for us to get promotion. He saved us from promotion? Utter bollocks? We have been crying for pace up front. Adkins played the team around Sharp and this cost us promotion (I was right!)

As long as he doesn't go to another club in our league. And especially not the one where our other previous top scorer now plies his trade

7 of them were from penalties. He missed three too but kept the job because "his dad" said so

Well, there really isn't a better source than that I suppose.

Shame it seems to be going this way, but that's football and often what happens when a new manager arrives. We all know that far too well!

If it is going to be done, let's hope it's done very quickly in the best up interests of the club, we need time to sign replacements.
Good luck to the lad, but for me the writing has been in the wall for a while. Despite his early decision of making him captain I thought it was dubious from comments he would stay here. More pace was the clue after bringing in Clarke.
Wonder if Bournemouth might lend us Wilson for the season....him and Clarke had a bit of a thing going once.

There has been Championship interest in Sharp for weeks. Did Seb tell you that ??

He will have his pick.

But I agree he clearly isn't good enough for us so get rid.

What's the betting on further season ticket price reductions when we hit Div 4 ??

Selling Billy to accommodate Clarke would be yet another example of us replacing our best players with players of lesser quality. If we do this it is fucking ridiculous.

Imagine a couple of months ago if McCabe had said that during this transfer window we're going to get rid of Adams, Sharp and Brayford, let alone replace our best player last season, and one of the best strikers in the division, with Leon Clarke. People would have gone fucking spare, and rightly so. Now we've got people justifying it because he's started the season slowly? I'm just sat here shaking my head.

Whether you are right or wrong is now irrelevant . It's here and now that counts . Always had time for billy but he ain't doing the business as striker or captain.

Does he need dropping IMO yes .

Being cynical on all things football , could Billy not love the blades as much as he says . Doesn't want to be part of the Wilder revolution , and he and his agent are perhaps orchestrating a final last pay day move .

Whoever bought him would get him for nowt anyway .

Problem is, Leon Clarke's start to the season has been worse. That's what my worry is.

It's surely better that we determine if anyone else in the club is capable of scoring (doesnt seem obvious) before we bin last season's leading goal scorer.

Have to say I can't see the Clarke / Sharp partnership working right now, but let's not chuck the baby out with the bath water.

Sharp looks very laboured in his play, but he did last year and still scored 20+ goals.

I'm fine with Wilder deciding to have Clarke as the focus but more so if Clarke plays as the top man, not in the deeper role, although if we did have more pace in the team around Clarke then Clarke would look much better. I still really like Leon, I think he is worth making the centre of the attack but that said I would be sad to see Billy leave, he's done us proud and last season kept us from a relegation battle. Totally trust Wilder though, its inevitable that a new manager would shift players on, some we agree with some we dont. When Harry first came in we sold crowd favourite Peter Beagrie and released Colin Morris. That didn't turn out too badly in the end did it and is Wilder most influenced by?

Clarke is older, doesn't score as many and has a worse injury record. He is just worse all round, but that's just what we do, isn't it.

You still get some daft twat praising the "good deal" that the club got, as our "best" players get shitter and shitter.

If he goes...he goes.

I don't doubt that he isn't the die hard fan that we are because he is a professional after all.

But I don't think it's fair to question his commitment to what the manager is trying to do, these are all rumours after all.
If he's sold to allow several replacements....as with Brayford and Adams then that's the pot we have to piss in.
Plenty of other sides manage without these star names...Scunny looking good with not one major star and a team assembled at a fraction of ours. It can be done.

Unfortunately when fans have an agenda against certain players like Sharp, when the happens this type of vitriol comes out.

Anyone thought of putting pace next to Sharp like he had with beckford and Rodriquez

To warm the bench
Sharp divides opinion. I get it.

You don't rate him. I get that too.

Maybe he is past his best and the only way is down for him. Who knows.

If this is true, it's a bigger than big call by Wilder. Huge.

Can't wait for the lump it to Leon revolution to mesmerise tantalise and excite me in the coming weeks !!

Will the last one out the building switch the lights out.

As I say. Well done. You win.
