I really can't see anyone booing him at all, he'll get a heros welcome - before he's done anything against Chesterfield.
I hope he appreciates it and fires us out of this shit league grabbing the JPT on our way.
But let's not kid ourselves about the bookies, they price based on the market. People are going to lay bets on him, based on all the feel good factors driving down his odds.
Let's remember these are the same bookies who had us favourites last season, how did that turn out?
I hope he does grab the top scorer crown, bagging 30 goals for a home grown lad would be brilliant. But hope is exactly what it is, not expectation.
 

It's laughable that people are unhappy about the signing of Sharp.

He's a Championship player with a proven goalscoring record at a higher level. He's 29, which is around peak age for a striker. In his previous spells he's been played out of position and not been given the service he needed. We also played styles of football that didn't suit his game. He'll get 20+ goals this season. I cannot understand why anyone (maybe Sparky) would be unhappy with this.

Done - injured. Looks like it's going to be a while until he's back.

So, that leaves us with McNulty and Higdon, neither of whom showed they can consistently play up top and be successful.

Sharp and Sammon with Adams and the above as back-up is a brilliant strikeforce for this league.

OK, had enough of this now. Can you give me two or three posters on here who have said they are unhappy with this signing? If not please drop this absolute nonsense that there is anything of a negative reception from fans to this announcement.

You cannot hold one of these as valid while dismissing the other in the same way as giving suggestions on why he failed before cannot be a guarantee of his success now.

I hope he does go on to be an integral part of championship winning team this year, I would suggest that the others on here who also have a certain amount of caution on this signing feel the same.

Any signing carries a risk. Sharp does not come to the club with a guarantee.

To be honest, it's not just goals I am expecting. An all round contribution and improvement to our offensive play is what is required. As Adkins has said, the team needs to score more. Sharp will be part of this but, given sufficient game time, there is no reason why the likes of Murph, Done, McNulty and Salmon can not reach double figures.

When was the last time we had 3 or 4 players reach double figures in a season ? No I don't know either.

This might just be the year. Fingers crossed.

Nobody can question a signing on here without someone coming on and saying that the said person hates Billy or thinks Adkins doesn't know what he's doing, lets give this shit up eh,:rolleyes: nobody wants Billy to fail. All people want is the best for our underperforming club, lets hope Billy can help us to achieve what we must do this season and that is to get out of this fucking league, lets hope it's third time lucky for all our sakes.

Happy with both signings TBH what did all the teams that went up last season have ? Goals goals goals

We now have the following fire power to get us out

Sharp
Sammon
Higdon
Murphy
Done
Adams
Sparky (who I think will be loaned out)

I am more than happy with that.

I think that if we invested in two centre backs and played Howard - Brayford (Freeman or loan cover until fit), new CB, new CB, Harris - Basham - two of Reed/Scougall/Baxter/Wallace - Done/Adams, McNulty/Sammon, Murphy, we score enough goals to win promotion. With Sharp we're probably going to be forced into playing 4-4-2 which'll necessitate a new central midfielder as well in my opinion, making the squad even more bloated

1.) Done is injured.
2.) Done also plays out wide.
3.) A signing in one position doesn't stop another signing elsewhere in the squad.
4.) Some deals take longer than others. I'd suggest a deal for two players no longer wanted by their existing team is an easier deal to complete than the alternate.
5.) Centre half due in next week apparently and if the rumour is true a bloody good one.
6.) If you boo him you really are a knob. He's joined to try and get us out this league - WTF would you boo anyone trying to do that?

Debating the signing before it was done when comments were up for debate. As I said show me even a handful since it's been announced. On the whole it's been massively possitive, even by those, myself included, who disagreed with the proven at this level/guaranteed goals rhetoric.
 
I take it you have never seen him play for the Blades before and he tore up loads of trees at Leeds last season I see. If he was as good as some fans are making out don't ya think Leeds would have kept him for their promotion push?
Bench warmer at Leeds, Blades saviour I will be surprised.
The teams that went up, yes scored goals but also had defenders.........

Because it's less expensive for a bookie to be wrong pricing new entrants too short rather than too long?

edit - but hey, if you think that he will tear the division apart, at least do some research and take the 14/1 available at other bookmakers that have that lad at Wigan as a massive favourite

Just a little longer to wait, no need for a tantrum. As for Sharp, I was one who thought he was a busted flush, past his best. Now he's signed I hope he really rams that right down my throat.

No real comment to your post, as its all been said, just more coherently, elsewhere.
However if you boo him you are a A1, plutonium grade nob head - and that's all that needs saying really.
 
May as well make myself clear here, I have previously said I wouldn't want Sharp back.
I feel the money spent securing Sharps return could have been better spent elsewhere in the team at this moment. Although, that said, it is awesome having a proven goal scorer in the side, playing for a manager that has played him effectively in the past. IMHO unless we do secure the services of a quality CB, it will be close. Play offs again... ...
