biggest hurdle in the prem when we return

This does raise a point about how would our prefers prefer a club to approach the PL.

The Prince explained that we would pay large sums in the transfer market but he would target the best young players in England, the idea was a young player with huge potential is more likely to accept £20K a week wages.

All transfers are a risk and if our transfers failed then the idea is that Ramsdale, McBurnie, Berge, Brewster would still have value so we could recoup decent money if we failed.

Some might say preparing for failure is being negative but with profit and sustainability rules in the EFL then we have to be practical and realistic to ensure we’re run properly.

Not planning for recruitment in the event of promotion would be pretty negligent so I'm pretty sure even we will be

We'd need to learn the lessons from last time. No more Brewsters, look abroad, and don't be obsessive with wage ceilings etc. But always include relegation wage reduction clauses

Think that was a Wilder issue. If we keep the same infrastructure under new ownership you’ll see more abroad signings. There was a glimpse into the market we’re finishing in last season (although we didn’t get the deals over the line) & with Anel

Signings like Zivkovic. Not necessarily good value especially when you don't have the scouting network for it.

Our biggest 'issue' rather than hurdle will be building a squad of sufficient quality and depth to compete and maintain EPL status.
The other issue will be the much needed improvement to the training facilities.
So nothing new!

I'd much rather we spent on anything but players tbh

We saw last time how you can splurge on players and end up with nothing to show for it

Spend on your ground, training facilities and academy and you absolutely do have something to show for it - permanently

Of course we'd need to recruit players to compete but we'd have to be smarter than last time

youve not watched Everton and west ham this season then

theres still clubs fighting to stave off the inevitable

we were told we werent good enough first season back
Everton and west ham have better players than us , I said last time we were up weren't good enough, there is a post I put on here I got called out as a pig obviously, I don't really know how to resume threads but It was posted in Covid break, and I stand by it have a read see what you think if u can find it

Evertons keeper is the current England No1 , I would take him over Wes every single time , ndiaye is quality so is Anel but player for player Everton's squad is miles better , ask yourself when we got relegated last time why did not 1 of our players move to a premier League club infact why didn't 1 even receive a bid ,

Yeah ok ramsdale was the only one, lundstrum wanted out to a premier league club , didn't happen, Scots prem is light years behind English prem , I'm not comparing us to Norwich I'm saying that currently out squad is not good enough for the premier League and ndiaye apart no one would come in for any of our players, they are decent players but lack the consistency to perform at the top level week in week out, hence one season top 10 , following season absolute car crash and joint most
defeats in premier League history .

I'm saying that currently our squad is not good enough for the premier League
championship table begs to differ
we arent second by accident we have played all 23 opponents in the 27 so far not the bottom 13 twice as some think
we hasve 19 games left 9 v top half 10 v bottom half left
Fulham were tipped for bottom 3 of the prem all season . not working out like that is it

we worry about the squad between may and august not now

Biggest worry is having Hecky and McCall in charge in matches! And I really like them both !

The championship table bears no resemblance to whether out squad is good enough for the premier league, what it shows is that it's one of the best in the championship, which I said 2 years ago if we buy very good championship players we will become a very good championship side , unfortunately we were in the premier League at the time

so you don't rate one player we have
Ndaye Anel Berge our keeper who has the most clean sheets of 2022 of all 92. clubs
Think your way too critical and way off message

I haven't at any point said I don't rate any of our players , this post was originally about the biggest hurdle in the premiership and my opinion is our squad isn't goo enough, berge is a good footballer so is ndiaye , Bogle , anel, but the rest of the squad are nowhere near consistent enough for the premier league, every player in the top 2 divisions is quality, Norwood can do what James ward prowse can do ability wise, but not consistently that's why he's never played consistently at the top level , same for Berge he has talent but no consistency, that is the difference at the top level , the players make better decisions, many years ago Robbie Fowler played for Cardiff and dean Saunders was watching the game and Fowler was making the runs he used to do at Liverpool and time and again wasn't receiving the ball, the commentator turned to Saunders and said , but eventually that understanding will come and they will start to find him , and Saunders said "no that's why there's 4 divisions"

were definetly going to need major recruitment if we do get to the premier league but theres light at the end of the tunnel with what seems like wealthy new owners coming in at least 8/9 new additions required imo and think we certainly need to look at the european market for value for money players anel is a prime example of this policy

We'll certainly need the latest version of Championship Manager!

We may well need to redraft Ricky onto the team!

I didn't actually mind Ricky. He was always good for a transfer window.

Is the source for those wage estimates sheffieldunited.news by any chance?

I reckon my 10 year old could have a better guess than that!

Huge issue is fans. Not loud enough, self entitled and most of em bed wetters. It must be truth av read it in here
