Best transfer window ever?

When I worked for Northern Foods, this was the best transfer window I ever came across.

It could cool liquids down from an internal temperature of 95⁰c to around 4/5⁰c in under 2 minutes, allowing for a seamless transition from cookhouse to packing line.

If we keep Berge then yes, phenomenal work done on transfers, makes me wonder why many criticises the board and Bettis

On display in that window are the players we will sell this week.

I will be amazed if there are not offers for Ndiaye , Anel & Berge.
I don't care how big the offers are , we will not be able to replace any of those 3 with a player of equivalent calibre.
If we sell , it is not just a question of us having cash to spend , but being in a position to attract such players.
I think the Prince must know this.
And with a dozen players injured , surely he will not want to further hamper our return to the PL ?
Sitting top if the division should encourage him to put up the shutters.

In heckys post match, he is very strong in his view that this squad is it, ins and outs.
There'll be a battle on if any offers come in.

I am quietly confident that none of our key players will be leaving us this window.

The Berge interest seems to have cooled, and I am sure that we would have heard about interest in Ndaye by now. Anel can't leave yet as he has only just signed

I expect all 3 to be major risks in January though and they won't be the only ones. Thankfully we no longer have a board who drop their respective knickers at the first half decent offer that rolls through the door. Say what you like about the Prince, but these Arab lads aren't easily shafted in business.

Dare I say that if Max Lowe continues to improve and Bogle fulfills his potential we will stop being so critical of Wilder's last summer transfer signings.
If they prove to be reliable Premier League players, perhaps.

Not sure proving themselves as Championship players was the aim when they were signed!

It’s been an exceptional window in terms of bulking the squad out in the right areas but also adding great depth in terms of quality. We’ve given ourselves the best possible chance of getting back up - huge credit to Hecky, the Prince and the recruitment team.

I am on board our promotion train with a heart full of hope that we get back up to the PL in this season - the timing is crucial coz our chances will dip thereafter.
It has been an excellent window + I commend the club for holding on to key players + recruiting well.
The only small gripe i have is that we've given away a 6'4" commanding replacement for Egan at CCB when we could have kept Lopata till January + reassessed our injury situation then.
Firstly , Lopata's relatively small wages we're already budgeted + secondly the fee will have been peanuts .... The cost of keeping him for a few months is virtually nothing.
Against that , we have weakened our defence in the event that the Shirecliffe sniper claims Egan tomorrow.
The only currently available replacement is Bash , who :
has never played CCB
and is our only cover for Furious at RWB.
Selling Lopata right now , with so many injured defenders , none of whom are natural CCBs , is a shortsighted decision + I hope it doesn't bite us on the arse.
We can't afford to move Anel or RND from their current berths where they are having such success.
The others are out injured or not suited to CCB.
The sale of Lopata has gained us next to fuck all money but opened up a significant risk by removing a towering backup CCB.
In all the other positions in the team apart from CCB , I can see that we are covered for injury & suspension.
I will be devastated if the loss of Egan derails our promotion train.
Talk about spoiling the ship for a ha'peth o' tar.

You've completely fabricated a problem and placed Lopata as the answer to that problem. You've also failed to consider that Lopata could have forced the move, he downed tools months ago as we were trying to sign him on a new deal. For me that's not really the type of player I want at the club.

But if you need a negative to cling on to, that's your perogative.

Clark, Anel, JLT could all come in and cover Egan. It’s the easiest defensive role to cover and requires the least amount of attributes.
That’s not a knock at Egan, he does the role very well but if, for example, you had England playing our system it would be Maguire in his role. You need to be aggressive, and dominate the ball in the air and have positional discipline skills, most central defenders have those by default.

Kyron Gordon was ahead of him in the pecking order too.

Yes, keeping Berge was a big statement. I thought the board might buckle & cash in while his stock is higher than it has been before, but they held strong for their valuation.

I’ve not witnessed that under any previous United ownership. I think I was just resigned to expecting the worst!

Burnley seem to have had a decent window too? I think us, Watford, Burnley & Norwich are the teams to beat & it’s just who can stay the most consistent out of us 4 takes the two top places

Have you ever thought dealing with wilder was like dealing with a petulant child, it eventually chip's away at you till you give in , even though you know its wrong
At the time also I don't think HRH had a great football knowledge, he has now learnt (up to a point) the direction and support he needs to go
I think hecky has had a lot input in the direction we needed to go and I can see improvement
Hecky has a point to prove after Leeds the few Leeds fans at work have all said they were disappointed when he went as they could see the team and structure taking shape
If he takes us up this season we will see a more structured approach to keeping us up than the "gung-ho" under wilder, don't get me wrong I loved it but it came home to roost in season 2
