Best transfer window ever?

I think Hecky's been telling Sander not to overdo it until after the window closes which explains some of his excellent first half showings and then fading in the 2nd half.
At half time Hecky's thrown the tea cups at him for playing too well. "FFS son, can't you just stroll about a bit second half and not have an impact on the game!".

Not sure it's "the best" as I feel we are a little light with right wing backs and center midfielders at the moment and one senior keeper.

But it's a good one.

Let's face it, we set the bar low. Anything other than a total fire sale we're strangely content.

I can't be the only one nervous..... Id like to be filled with anticipation that we can get over the line the 3 or 4 players to provide depth and options to what is a decent but evidently paper thin squad... But oh no..... We have the spectre of those scrotes bags from up the M1 trying to piss on my bonfire.... Resist.... Resist ah tell thee... 😂 😂

There's still foreign clubs who can nick our players..their window doesn't close Friday

Interesting that this, very good transfer window up to now, seems to have gone very quiet especially as Wilder expected it to be a very busy "week". Where have we seen that before? No medicals announced that makes a change, if the medicals take as long as previous then any incomings will be lucky to get across the line especially if they are dependant on outgoings. We will see.

Wilder’s next presser should be interesting.

I think we're one left winger and a striker away from being okay for this season. Clearly Hamer isn't as effective out wide but can do well alongside O'Hare playing central.

If we bring in a left winger then we cn drop Souza and just use Arblaster as part of a 4-1-4-1 formation.

Tasty. We’d ship a tonne of goals but would be awesome going forward. Would give it a go if we also signed a top quality central defender to play alongside Souttar, RND was fit to play left back, and Gilchrist played right back. Would be a solid defence.

I think it's been a decent window. Still time to improve on that, but I don't know if it can be deemed as the best ever.

There are still holes in the squad, at RB and ST especially. We look a bit too brittle at RB for my liking. Gilchrist is clearly out of position (though still doing a fine job so far), Seriki is/was injured, Sachdev was reasonable the other night while not looking like a permanent solution. I'd much prefer to see someone of 1st team quality who is a natural RB, not a CB shoehorned into that position, even if only to provide competition to Gilchrist to begin with.

Up top is a huge concern if we don't get anyone else in. I think Moore will prove to be a very good investment, but if/when he is not available, we've got sweet F-A to fill that space. Brewster isn't good enough, One is a player who likely could do that role in a few years, but he's not ready for this level yet. The ones who would have been most likely (and most capable) of playing backup to Moore have both left (Jebbison & Osula), and we really ought to have done more to fill that gap in the squad.

We also are without anyone really comfortable as a left winger. Wilder is obviously playing with inverted wingers now, so this would need to be someone naturally right-footed. The lad from Celtic would fit that bill of course, but only having one player there makes me a bit uncomfortable. Wingers are often the ones to get some hefty knocks from defenders trying to stop their runs, so it's very possible we are without appropriate cover there too.

The signings we have made are very good I feel, and have done great to fill out the squad. But we haven't addressed everything (yet). Perhaps we do between now and the end of the window, and I'll look somewhat foolish. But for now, not the best window we've ever had.

Johnston at Celtic apparently having medical at WBA where he was on loan last season. But seeing how Moore's last minute change of mind went you never know.

What defines a best ever window through? If it's solely on the quality of squad at the end of the window then it's a no.

If it's defined on the quality of the squad comparing day 1 of the window vs the the last day If the window.. then given how ridiculously weak the squad was on day 1.. its probably a yes.

I just wish it was more bestester.

Started promising but it has turned out to. Be bang average our forward line is woeful and a key area that we haven't addressed.
Good forward lines need serious investment

Are we actually linked with anyone at the moment? When we signed the other players they were rumours days before

We aren’t challenging top 2 without another striker/s, RB….

Looking at top 6 with what we got.

I think we need to wait and see if we sell any key players before we decide how good this window has been. Many didn't think the last summer's window was too bad until Ndiaye and Berge were sold, and we're now so close to the window closing that getting in quality replacements in would be a massive ask. Even as it stands if all our current players stayed, I don't think we've got enough yet particularly up front. Non of our forwards are regular scorers, our only hope would be on one of the kids stepping up.

Agree, but we have shipped out 15 players?? That can't be rebuilt effectively in one window

Probably be the usual stuttering and repetitive presser we have become used to
What do you expect after the summer of uncertainty for him, the team, the club…

Wilder has worked his bollocks off alongside bettis and others to get a team fit to start the season and beyond. He wasn’t expected to be at the club beyond the end of June. I don’t know what his contract status is now as I’ve not asked recently.

He’s been professional and worked with others to get players in and get them playing. On paper we’ve brought in the right players in the right positions.

He may well stutter and struggle through press conferences. But he’s also worked wonders with others to get the team to the position we’re in
