Another wide field, but perhaps one stand out candidate here.

Marker and Burton never actually played a first team game in the shirt and they, with Baxter (obviously) are the designated joke candidates. Vote for them and your vote won't be counted unless you justify it in the thread.

Players wore other numbers as follows:

Ribeiro: no. 35 1999-00
Smith: no. 33 1999-2000, no.26 2000-01
Harley: no, 26 2002, no. 14 2004-05, no. 3 2005
Armstrong: no. 3 2003-04
McAllister: no. 24 2011, no.16 2012-13
Tonne: no.19 2011, no. 24 2011-12

Harley or Stretch Armstrong. Both decent defenders who could go forwards and didn't look afraid of the opposition, unlike some of the past few incumbents. Hmmmm. Based on the simple reason that out of the two he's got the better nickname, Stretch Armstrong.

Marcel Seip? I know I'm getting forgetful, and I've even Googled him, but I can't remember him at all.

For those thinking of voting for Harley, his span as no. 20 was just his month on loan in Sept-Oct 03, before he was injured and went back to Fulham.

Bollocks - thought this was his time from the triple assault season.

Reassign to stretch please...

I went for Armstrong.

No knees Nicky Marker for the rubbish team for me. He was the slowest player I can ever recall seeing play for us. He was slower than Paul McGrath, but without the speed of thought to compensate.

Who the hell is Sagi Burton?

Stretch gets my vote for this one, and I think we all know who's going to be in the nightmare squad. I'll never forget that first 45 minutes at Burnley.......

maybe towards the end (not my recollection) but he was a rock under spackman probably our most consistent player in a team packed full of quality

Player of the season award winner 1998. He had a fabulous season.

I always thought he was a good player, having just read the first post I'm guessing his good days could have been in the number 35.
