Probably been done before at some stage, who's our best homeinternationals(excluding Ireland)

Best scottish internationals with the blades: Fleck,Colquhoun,Murphy,Bone

Best Welsh internationals with the blades: Speed,Hockey,Reece,Powell,Page

Best Nth Irish internatonals with the blades, Norwood,Ward

haven't been that many...........or am I suffering from bad memory

England's a relatively small list, in my living memory anyway: Brian Deane
Wales: Glyn Hodges, Nathan Blake, David Cotterill

Post war ... England ... Hagan, G Shaw, Hodgy, Mick Jones, TC, Deano and the singer winger, name escapes me at the minute, scored 2 v Brazil

Post war ... Jocks ... full internationals for us ... Forbes, Colquohoun, Jim Grady Brown, Naysmith, Fleck

Norn Iron ... Colin Hill, Keith Gillespie, Jamie Ward (possibly)

Taffs ... loads to go at ... Allchurch, Reece, Powell, Hockey, Hodges, Blake, Taylor, Saunders, Page, Cheddy, Cotteril, Freeman, Lee Evans, Brooks

Jamie Ward did not play for his country whilst with United, same with Jim Bone.

Colin Grainger was other England player.
Washington played for Ireland.

Had a feeling Jamie Ward didn't get capped when he was with us, I think he was on the bench a couple of times but didn't get on. Good call with Washington.

I remember the name Billy Gillespie being listed as our most-capped player (25 caps, for Norn Iron) in some football encyclopedia i had as a kid (funny the things that stick).

A quick check on Wikipedia suggests he's now our 3rd most capped player behind... brilliant pub quiz question that. This is whole-career caps though, not just those earnt whilst playing for us.

Apologies, my post is nonsense, the list i was looking at included only players who played for their country whilst a Blade. Still only 1 player ahead of Gillespie. Players with the most caps who played for the Blades at any time in their career is another question...

Where did you get the list from, by my reckoning Billy Gillespie is still our top capped player with 25, Keith Gillespie 24, Big Jostein 23, Alan Kelly and Nuddy 22. Who does your list have as number 1?

I know Nuddy took Billy Gillespies for the Blade with most international goals.

Ndlovu 26 caps

Ndlovu 26 caps

Is there any source material for that Silent? At the time I was well on the money with our internationals, I was going to bring a book/handbook out about it. I had Nuddy down as a definite in 22 games but couldn't nail it down on another 6. Looking at my notes from the time, of 3 of the games in May 2004, he played for us the night before one of the games, for another game against Egypt, the Egypt website claimed Zimbabwe only played local based players. In two friendlies in July 2002 my notes suggest Nuddy was unlikely to have played in them. All six games that I've questioned marked were friendlies, I'm fairly sure that when he was at the Lane Warnock let him go back for competitive fixtures but not friendlies??

What could also confuse matters was his brother played for Zimbabwe in the same era.

I feel like Andrew Gilligan in 2003. NAME YOUR SOURCE. My source was https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Sheffield_United_F.C._international_players, out of date as it doesn't include Flecky, Norwoody, McGoldricky etc, but they do list Ndlovu as playing 26 internationals and most international goals with 21.

On that page they mention Speed is the player who's played for the Blades and has the most international caps - I guess Rush can't be far behind. Out of interest Maguire has already managed the same number of international apps as Ndlovu though of course he was never capped whilst playing for us. Though you could argue he's been a Blade every time he's played for England :)

We've had Hao Haidong with 102 caps, Speed with 92 and Jim Leighton with 91...though no caps came at the Lane.

Yes the 2012 edition

It would be difficult to argue against Denis on stuff like that, although it would be great to know how he got the information. I know his co-author Richard Kirkham is the statistician (and I believe in the Association of Statisticians) so maybe they have access to further data sources.
