Best Goal

I think the 'best' goals I've seen have already been listed on this thread, but one goal I'd love to see again was a Brian Deane goal.
I can't remember the game or the year and despite looking for it on line a few times I started to think that I imagined it!
Maybe one of you out there can remember it?

Let me try and describe it:

Tony Agana hits the ball, from just outside the left hand side of the penalty box (Bramall Lane end), 'at' Brian Deane who 'flicks' the ball with the outside of his boot into the net!

Now did I just dream this?

Silent Blade ?
No you didn't! He did the exactly the same thing a few games later, we thought the first one was a fluke!
Obviously not!

I'm lucky to have seen a few of these, thank fuck

In no uncertain order of preference:

a. Currie's 30 yarder vs Liverpool. It went in like a missile.
b. Brown's superb strike against the pigs. You could see it was going in as soon as it looped up off that defender's melon and Brown started running up to meet it
c. Lake's thumper against the Scum. I was line-in-sight with the ball as he hit it. We went daft.
d. Jagielka's 35 yarder vs Weeds. His face celebrating says it all.
e. Evans vs Boro. Again, he ran onto it and I was thinking, "he's gonna have a pop at this".

Best one vs us? Erikson's free kick.

Your “like” is for the Erikson free kick, absolutely world class.

TC corner to the edge of the box vollied in on the full by Woody. I’m too old to remember the game - it must have been somewhere in 71-74 though - those years are a bit of a blur - magic times though!

We could have had Long and Howard in goal that night and it would have gone in.

There was one replay which showed the angle at which the ball approached and went in and the closeness of it to the crossbar and post. There's only a few who can do that shit and get away with it. Erikson is a fucking maestro.

Spot on, we were directly in line in the main stand - as soon as he hit it, I knew he’d score, couldn’t possibly have placed it better. Spoke to a few Spurs fans that night, good lads all of them, and they said he and Dembele were their best players.

Paul 'Ten Touches' Peschisolido v Nottingham Forest 2003. (At 11:11)

The voting is now closed.:)

One of the best games I’ve seen brought it all back to me , I was telling a Roth’s fan at work if you want to some up the play offs in a nutshell this game and the one that followed .. extasy & pain .. like taking a wrong turning in SoHo !

Steve Wigley v Blackburn Rovers, November 1985.

Still the best after all this time.
I can’t remember who it was agains’t but Steve Wigley was involved in one of the best end to end goals ever. Kelly threw him the ball on the right in his own half, one touch to Keith Edwards who passed it straight down the right hand side to Colin Morris who shot first time bendin it up over and round the keeper into the top right hand corner. One of the best goals I have ever seen at the lane.

Billy Dearden against Derby. Received a cross just outside the corner of the area, with back to goal. Knee’d the ball in the air, spun round and volleyed the dropping ball into the far top corner.

Silent Blade ?

He did this twice in 1988-9. Once against Bury and once against Bristol City. Both goals on YouTube on the blades history channel.

Best this season has to be Flecks free kick against pigs, or Duffy's bounce killer, or Evans volley...or Billy's against Leeds...or Leon's from range against Bristol. But that's all... it's been a cracking season ant it!

Brian Deane, from the halfway line,Brian Deane, from the halfway line,Brian Deane, from the halfway line,Brian Deane, from the halfway line :)

UTB

Be careful mate. I heard if you say that phrase 3 times while looking in a mirror he appears but then he scores against you from the halfway line.

Yep, that was mine too but couldn't remember who it was against.

In recent memory Evans' goal takes some beating

For effect Brown's & Duffy's pig slayers

Evans goal was very special this season, superb technique.

one of my favourites was Steve Wigley, picked it up inside our half and went on a mazy run beating player after player before slotting home having taken it round the keeper.

Also remember Ray McHale scoring a thunderbolt when we gubbed someone 5-0...

Never saw it in the flesh because I wasn't born, but Tony Fields goal against Ipswich in 1971 (?) was incredible.
.
August 31st 1974, I was at boarding school and saw the goal in the "On the Ball" programme the following week. Field wasnt even good at first division level and the goal astonished me

Don't know if said elsewhere but best goal against us was Cantona in the cup. Chipped Kelly, was right behind it on the kop and the precision was sublime. Not many times have the kop clapped an opposition goal, plenty did that night.

Happened 3 times in the 1973-74 season. v Arsenal (h) which was from a free kick, v West Ham (a) and v Southampton (h)
