You’ve ever seen at a Blades match it doesn’t have to be from a Blades player but mine is

Paul Devlin at the lane against Pompey warnocks first game in charge I believe didn’t he skin about 7 of their players I was only about 13 so memory is vivid I just know it was a great individual effort

Edge of our box to their box if I remember correctly....

Can't think of many better than Jags' against Leeds in the FA cup, mostly because when the ball sat up for him, I was screaming at him not to shoot! Browny's volley against the pigs is also up there! both full of tekkers but against local scumbags too..

I'll plump for Brown's against the pigs though if I had to pick one....

Best goal for me is Jags vs Leeds......but I've also always loved Kabba's goal in the playoffs vs Forest to bring us level. Flicks it up over the defender and volleyed into the top corner sending the entire crowd bonkers, I feel it always gets overlooked because of Peschy's twisting and turning beautiful scuff of a finish later on!

Personally, I loved Fleck's free kick against 'dem pigs'. It happened quickly, it knocked the stuffing out of the swine, and even though they scored two, our attitude that day was positive and far, far better than theirs. Of course Duffy's goal is up there, a stonking shot that he had no right to score.

Recently I also loved Evans' cracking volley, one of those goals that's difficult to argue or compete with. Longterm? Michael Brown's volley against you-know-who will always stay in my memory.

Was that a big hint in the title? It was an awful moment for the Blades, but Best's goal at Old Trafford in 1971 was outstanding.

For brilliance, Jags wonder boomer Vs Leeds in the old Worthington Cup.

For heart attack goal of the century, Petr Ndlovu's goal about 3 minutes after Jags wonder boomer.

For best timing, Duffy Vs the pork.

Jags followed by Ndlovu was the best two minutes I've had in football. Never has a comeback like that been more deserved or unexpected.

Never saw it in the flesh because I wasn't born, but Tony Fields goal against Ipswich in 1971 (?) was incredible.

For me though it was Michael Browns and Paul Peschisolido's neck and neck.
The Tony Field game was my first ever visit.
Field got two, a Mick Mills own goal completed our tally in a 3 1 win.

I disagree about the unexpected bit - didn't you feel in that season we were ALWAYS going to score a late goal? In those situations (ie a goal down) I remember been able to sit there when injury time was held up and think 'we're still in this'. The spirit of that team was brilliant.

That's not a bad first game!

I once asked my dad about Tony Field, he said he could've been brilliant but his form tailed off badly for some reason. That was a moment of genius though.

No, I was always a pessimist. I always thought there was going to be a game that we couldn't come back. The upside of pessimism is you're eventually right.

Alan Woodward hitting it into the top corner most weeks was pretty special oh how we miss someone who takes aim regularly from distance and strikes the ball so sweetly.

Special mentions to " what are you doing Tony oh that was bloody brilliant Field " and Steve for gods sake pass it no shoot yes! Wigley.

Deano chipping Grobbelaar from distance was sheer class that non Blades couldn't believe he had in his locker.

Nothing though beats a great goal against the Pigs. My favourite three in order;

3. Bobby Davisons second - so good it started a flood of tears down Penistone Road
2. Browny's volley silenced the grunting coming from the Bramall Lane end
1. Duffys Bounce buster goal, his swerve sent the North Stand the wrong way - " he didn't have a right to score from there" Yes he did :)

in my years watching id say

for - brown against the oinkers

against - hate to admit it, ex oinker who scored for leeds against us. dont think ive ever seen a better struck free kick in the flesh. mel sterland

The feeling that we were never beaten grew after the Leeds match, in fact the Leeds match seemed to kick start the season. We'd been fairly average up to that point (October/November I think).

Cantona scored a good one at The Lane but for those who were old enough ie Bert, it's always going to be Tony Field's goal.

Brian Deane, from the halfway line,Brian Deane, from the halfway line,Brian Deane, from the halfway line,Brian Deane, from the halfway line :)

UTB

The first goal I ever missed at Bramall Lane as I was having a lucky piss!!:(

I've missed a few since though:rolleyes:

I think the 'best' goals I've seen have already been listed on this thread, but one goal I'd love to see again was a Brian Deane goal.
I can't remember the game or the year and despite looking for it on line a few times I started to think that I imagined it!
Maybe one of you out there can remember it?

Let me try and describe it:

Tony Agana hits the ball, from just outside the left hand side of the penalty box (Bramall Lane end), 'at' Brian Deane who 'flicks' the ball with the outside of his boot into the net!

Now did I just dream this?

Silent Blade ?

I remember this goal well because my mate went to the bog and missed it! So when he came back I took great delight in describing it in great detail, which I still do to this day and it still winds him up!
