Best FA Cup memory as a Blade

Think the team talk would have been a little different a couple of years later I. The Cup after this chaps piece of class IMG_0320.JPG

Even though I've only been going since the mid-late 90s (that I can remember anyway), I'[ve been lucky enough to see some amazing games and moments:

Kabba vs Leeds. Beating them lot twice and a goal like that to boot. Remember Mark Viduka looking at Paddy Kenny in disbelief after his performance too.

Poll-axed at Arsenal. 12 years old, me and my best mate on a bus (converted from an ice cream van) of half-cut Blades, this was one of my favourite days out. Some lovely young lass flashing us on the motorway on the way down was enough to make that day memorable. But the game itself was brilliant. We more than matched Arsenal at a time when they were one of the best in Europe, never mind England. Unfortunately, it will be remembered for two things:
The sequence leading up to their goal in which:
-Allison is fouled and is completely ignored by the "ref".
-The "ref" body-checks Michael Tonge, allowing Arsenal to break further
-Arsenal hit the post and finish from close range.
And, of course, THAT save. Was convinced that was in. Unbelievable form Seaman

Fulham away. Absolute scenes in the 120th minute, that was special. My uncle managed to get into the ground on about 118 minutes as all stewards outside the ground had buggered off home early due to a tube strike.

Forest at home.
Charlton at home.
Infact that whole season of cup games.

Was sat with my then-girlfriend who was a Forest fan, and went a little wild when Porter worked his magic.
Charlton was a glorious day, after Pigs has buggered up the first derby in ages. Blistering heat, good performance, and the rendition of Greasy Chip Butty at the end was incredible. Michael Doyle choking up in his interview as well, could see what it meant to him.

And, of course, Hull. This everything that needs to be said has been about that day said in this thread already.

Marvellous.

Beating Arsenal 1-0 in the FA. Cup third round was another great result. The only thing I remember Carl Veart for. The last time we beat one of the top sides in the FA Cup.

We played out of our skins that night and deserved to win by more , Patterson & Cowans had worldly' sand ran the show in midfield that night , one of the best performances under Kendall . I ran into Patto in a bar in Spain a few years ago & he was telling me he fell on hard times .. liked him as footballer always gave 100% and he never shirked a tackle .. but feel sorry for someone who got paid a 1000 times more in a 20 yr football career and blew it than I'll ever earn in a 50yr job one if I'm lucky .. I didn't exactly get the violin concerto to play & hanky out to stop the flood of tears !

Interesting and sad to hear about Mark Patterson. I guess second tier footballers weren't earning ridiculous amounts in 1996.
