Just thinking back through the last six seasons in League One and wondered who people would have in our best and worst combined teams?

I've tried to come up with my best and worst (playing a 4-4-2 standard formation). I've tried to be as objective as possible and picked people based on what they were like at their best and not thought about any acrimonious departures that may have soured the taste of putting them in the team. I've only picked people who have played at least 10 games. There were a lot more names that I could think of for the bad team that's for sure.

I've tried to play people in their actual positions as much as possible but no left backs were really standing out so I've put Lowton at LB!

Best Team

Simon Moore

John Brayford – Harry Maguire – Jake Wright – Matt Lowton

Lee Williamson – Kevin McDonald – John Fleck – Jamie Murphy

Ched Evans – Billy Sharp

Subs: Mark Howard, Kieron Freeman, Jack O’Connell, Paul Coutts, Stephen Quinn, Nick Blackman, Che Adams
Manager: Chris Wilder

Worst Team

Steve Simonson

Daryl Westlake – Matt Hill – Jay McEveley – Marcus Williams

Febian Brandy – Dean Hammond – Michael Doyle – Martyn Woolford

Joe Ironside – Michael Higdon

Subs: George Long, Craig Alcock, Tony McMahon, Nick Montgomery, Lyle Taylor, Chris Porter, Diego De Girolamo
Manager: David Weir

Right with a few,not doyle though imo

Probably worst in that position though apart from Hammond, if he's a dm. Only because we replaced him with Hammond and we've played without needing a dm since. Basically, apart from Hammond, he's the only one we've had who's played regularly so he's the best and also the second worst.

Doyle shouldn't be anywhere near the worst team.

Matty Phillips and Billy Clarke were excellent for us or are you excluding loan players?

I get Doyle was a loyal player and I loved his passion for the club but when you see what we have in midfield now I think his presence in our team and that he was accepted as being a regular was the evidence of how everyone's expectations had fallen to such a low

Hope Freeman doesn't read this.

My thoughts exactly and quite honestly, as good as Brayford was during that loan spell I think Freeman has been better this season. 8 goals and however many assists from RWB is an incredible return, especially considering we still have 12 games left and he didn't even feature for the first few games.

Anyone picking a back three formation without wright in the middle of it wants to have serious word with themselves.

...............................Moore

...............Maguire. Wright. O'Connell

Freeman ...................................................Lafferty

..................................Fleck

....................Duffy.............. ... Murphy

.....................Evans.................Sharp.

A few names on here have made me think it would be good to have a team of the most forgettable players. It would consist of ... er ... er ... er ... :(

Nice idea at a thread but having Doyle and Montgomery anywhere near the worst team is utterly ridiclous

Can't see what the fuss about Lee Williamson to be honest, one good game in eight.
14 goals from midfield!!!! Covered and defended really well. Wish we had the Williamson of 2012 in this team. Wish we had a 14 goal midfielder in this team. Nearest we have is an 8 goal wing back that I'm really happy with.

Simon Moore
John Brayford (loan spell)
Harry Maguire
Jake Wright
Bob Harris (under Clough)
Lee Williamson
Kevin McDonald
John Fleck
Jamie Murphy
Ched Evans
Billy Sharp

With honourable mentions: Conor Coady, Matt Lowton, Jack O'Connell, Stephen Quinn, Nick Blackman, Kieron Freeman

Probably leaning more towards my personal favourite XI of players.

There could be several squads fit enough for the worst we've seen in League 1...:

Steve Simonsen
Darryl Westlake
Harrison McGahey
Paddy McCarthy
Marcus Williams
Callum McFadzean
Dean Hammond
Stephen McGinn
Martyn Woolford
Michael Higdon
Conor Sammon

Dishonourable mentions: Tony McMahon, Craig Alcock, Joe Ironside, Jay McEveley, Kieran Wallace, Johnny Ertl, James Beattie, Michael O'Halloran. And many more.

Doyle shouldn't be anywhere near the worst team.
Jees McAllister must have been crap. I've just had to Google when it was he played for us. 18 games, 2 goals and zero impression.

Wouldn't change any of our current first team with any of our past league 1 players if given the opportunity, although quite hard to resist Murphy - an absolute gem of a player

When you sit and think of some of the horrors we've had play for us in the last 6 years, Doyle, Montgomery and Porter should be nowhere near that worst 18.

You could almost pick a worst team purely from players signed by Weir.

Febian Brandy
Stephen McGinn
Sean McGinty
Jasper Johns
Lyle Taylor
Florent Cuvelier
Harry Bunn (short term loan)
Marlon King
Ryan Hall (short term loan)
Simon Lappin

10 signings there from Weir's 4 months in charge that are all far more deserving of a spot that squad than Doyle, Monty or Porter.

Connor Coady and Jose Baxter are excluded of course, though Baxter did throw away his ability and was often a liability.
