And since when does "What somebody is worth" have anything to do with it?

If he signed for Bournemouth instead of us they'd be touting £50 million despite getting relegated.

It's about time our fans dragged themselves into 2022, and lost the attitude that because he "plays for us, so can't be worth that much"

We've left that behind with McCabe, so it's about time the fans did as well
He just isn’t worth £35m.

If the club has a number they’d accept they ought to have alerted interested parties that starting 15 days before the deadline the fee increases by £1m each day.

He just isn’t worth £35m.
Who is worth £35 million?

Keeping him represents our best chance of going up, because he won't be replaced if he leaves. So he's potentially worth £200 million.
Start thinking outside the box, this is what other clubs do when buying or selling players.

Chelsea and Man Utd are currently looking at Ivan Toney for £40 MILLION !!!!
A player who we've had no end of chances of signing for next to peanuts. We didn't sign him because we weren't willing to pay the peanuts, and he went to Peterborough instead.

Transfer fees are ludicrous, it's been a reciprocal arrangement between every club in the League for years.....except United.

There's no such thing as he's not worth £35 million, he's worth what someone will pay, he's an international player, at the right age who is in good form, and the Prince should be praised for holding his nerve and not caving in. After all, we all know what a sulk Berge is going to have if he doesn't get offloaded for a box of celebrations and a big mac don't we?
No Bigger Blade than me Seth told us, didn't he?

But that Ivan Toney is now a 26yo English Striker with 14 PL goals in 37 apps.

Thanks for that. He still isn’t worth £35m.

Once Berge’s contract runs out, he’s worth .., nothing. If he’s not sold in this window, then that would leave 2 possible further windows when a substantial fee could be gained from selling him: Jan ‘23 and summer ‘23. By next summer, his value will have decreased because he’s nearer the end of the contract. By summer ‘24 (I think) he goes on a free.

If a bid is on the table for x millions, then it’s worth imagining NOT having Berge right now…

What if we had to spend x millions to get him on a 2 year contract with his current wages?

Imagine that money’s in the bank: does it sound like a great move to spend it on Berge right now, and put him on that 2 year deal?

If it does, then great - refuse the bid.
If it doesn’t though, then accepting the bid starts to make a lot more sense…

As an optimist, I hope we keep him, get promoted and the whole picture looks incredibly different in 9 months, just because I like watching him play, and that enjoyment is the whole point of going to matches.

In terms of watching the value of your most expensive asset rapidly dwindle to nothing though, I can see why selling at or around this point in his contract could happen.

Agreed Bladesman Preston reckon Emil Riis is worth £10 million, with no international caps and 14 open play goals in the championship last season. Not that a stat that like that means bob all. MGW £42 million is equally mind boggling.
I think t he price on MGW was £25 million, more realistic. The rest was add-ons.

We have bought Berge with 23M (according to transfermarkt) so it can't be too hard to decline offers like 25M as Berge as a players is more valuable to our team and promotion campaign than 2M profit. I also think that manager more likely keeps Berge as we all know how our midfield can be.

If any other team who is battling against us for the promotion would buy Berge from us, that would be really nasty tactics, but I think they are not in to it. I don't think clubs do things like that nor have better use for 35M if they even have that kinda money in the first place.

Don’t forget we’ll have to give 20% of any transfer fee back to his former club unless that’s 20% of any profit?

Sander Berge,£35m release clause in his contract. I want him to stay.
However, Liverpool and Newcastle are looking at him.

Says who, you me and every other fan dont not know this for certain all your doing is believing what you hear or read! There's been no official bid he was in the squad played 90 mins so for me I'd take what you read with a pinch of salt until the money is on the table.

I’m guessing now that he played tonight that we aren’t planning to sell him this transfer window?

Sanders celebration with the lads and fans at the end tonight indicate he's more than happy in this team and at BDTBL.....

(Just hope I haven't jinxed it 😬)

I don't see how that ties in at all.

But anyway, he had another one of those quality games where he puts in next to no effort but looks a world beater. Assisted the third goal as well. 7/10 from him tonight. Not the performance of a sulker.

But I know things can change.

One of the finest players I've seen
