Your analysis is very good.
I can't help thinking that Hecky is the absolute best manager we could have ever hoped for (and I really think Slav did a good job as well - if only in giving time to the players to understand the 'end-of-carreer' situation they where in). Well done PA!
As for the great Illiman Ndaiye, it is certain that he has been given the the worst possible "emotional" advice from his agent. Surely it would have been better for Ndiaye to go to his home team as the hero, as the one who has won everything for Sheff U and FC Barcelona.
Instead he's in Marseille, as the promise, as the expectation, the one to give hope too a very poor sector of French society.
We all love him so much, lets hope he can succeed.
As for Berge, he has realised everything already.

What is a 'normal' transfer window? And who's had one? Possibly Arsenal? Think Brighton losing Caisedo - LIverpool all the midfield, Man U cant get Harry off the payroll and miss out on Pavard, Chelsea are still short of a striker and are trying to move about 8 players out.
At the other end, Everton upto today have sign Young on a free, Luton havent spent more than £5m

Can't be arsed to explain again how our situation is different from that of Brighton or Luton. Both those clubs are well run, stable and prepared for this season.

Our best midfielder, who knows the club, the system and the manager, left on the 9th to a relegation rival. We signed Souza, who has never played in England, doesn't know the club, system or manager, and is miles away from being match fit on the same day, aye. We played Chris Basham, our second choice CB, in midfield as a result.

The context of the ownership situation last season has effected this window. We don't have the funding we need because the Prince hasn't found investors as he has in the past. The botched sales and subsequent lack of funding has led us to be completely inactive in the January window, and slow to act in this window.

Not sure how you see Luton as been prepared for the season yet are bemoaning us - presume you fancy them to finish above us?

Luton will have a weaker squad than us when the window closes, as they are a much smaller club. They are well prepared for what they are, whereas I don't think we are. Agree to disagree.

There are legitimate reasons to be negative about our club right now. As someone naturally negative, I'm not surprised I'm feeling them. I accept there are legitimate positives n'all, just don't like the polarised nicknaming of all those who disagree either way.

Although I appreciate the data, it’s based on 3 games, one of which we played a LB and LCB in midfield, one in which a collective group of players played together for the first time and finally one against arguably the best team in the world all with a forward line made up of a two inexperienced young lads.

I question the validity and reliability of a data set based on the above, although Im sure most blades understand the importance of this game. What is interesting is the proximity of Forest, Fulham, Burnley and Luton who are much more completed as sides.

What's surprising is how little homework they seem to have done.
We're not far removed from Burnley and have given them 2/3 seasons worth of a case study on him and it's clear what he can and can't do.

If you're expecting Berge to be a CM or a DM you're flying a kite.
Get him in open space, in advanced wide areas, in one on one situations and he'll create something for you. He can also retain possession pretty well.
He absolutely can't defend and doesn't operate well in tight areas, he hasn't the agility for it.

He had two good opportunities to control the ball and get a shot in on Sunday. Unfortunately one of them he chested the ball down in just a bit the wrong direction so a Villa player got in first, and the second one the ball from behind him got tangled up in his legs and the chance was lost. Either of those could have been a goal if things had gone right. He had one other chance with the ball on the goalline in the 6 yard box, a chance to cross not shoot that is, and couldn't find a pass - whether there was a pass to be found, I can't say. As for the other aspects of midfield work, the tackling, the tracking back, the heavy duty - I didn't see much of that. Which in a midfield two/two-and-a-half, is not really going to work!

Better to have sold Berge and Illi in January then, we had no money remember.

We could have stopped in the Championship.

Completely agree. Whilst I'm pleased with the signings, the way we have conducted business has been shocking.

A lot of us on here know that.

If you can get 20 minutes out of the 90 from him, he's had a good game.

The optimists amongst you will debate for months about "finding the best position" for him.

I watched him for 3+ years. Fucked if I know if there actually is one.

I'll be fair, he's not terrible and I was happy enough with him as a starter last season despite his patchy output and propensity to disappear. But in a PL side? No, thanks.

I've been lurking on here often enough to suspect that the moment we signed him. Still, Kompany knows best. (I hope!)

Really interesting (if somewhat distressing) view of our attacking output. I guess I'm happy to discount it partially as our team for the first game was a mess, our third game was against city, and we haven't seen our first choice strikers yet.

I would also add that I'm pretty confident whatever success we have this season will be built on defence rather than attack. Still need to put some in the onion bag though!

I said from the start we hoisted Burnley's kegs down here. Berge does nothing in a game. I don't know why people rate him so highly. Now, I actually do think he would be good in a team with lots of good players. He isn't the player to play for a shit team and then boss the midfield, lift the team and single-handedly carry the team on his back.

Our best midfielder at the point Berge left was Ollie Norwood.

You can have all the ability in the world, but if you don’t apply yourself and grab hold of games, it won’t make you a good footballer. Hamer is a more than adequate replacement

Sheffield United have agreed to the transfer of Sander Berge to Burnley with immediate effect.
Attempts to persuade the Norwegian international to sign a new contract have been unsuccessful and consequently, after negotiations, the club have reluctantly accepted Burnley's latest, undisclosed, bid.
"We did not want to lose Sander, particularly this close to the start of the Premier League season, but after the player expressed a strong interest to leave, we spoke to Burnley to get the best possible deal for Sheffield United," said Blades chief executive officer, Stephen Bettis. "Since his arrival at the club, Sander has been a popular member of the squad and it was hoped he would once again shine at Bramall Lane in the Premier League.
"Unfortunately, along with his representatives, he has opted to move to Burnley and we would like to place on record our thanks for his service over the past three and a half years."
Midfielder Berge, 25, joined the Blades in January 2020 from Belgian club Genk. He made a total of 89 starts, 20 substitute appearances and scored 15 goals, the last of which helped the club secure promotion in the victory over West Bromwich Albion in April.
