CONFIRMED Berge to Burnley

I do genuinely think this might be more to do with Kompany, maybe Berge has been a bigger fan of his than any of us could imagine, maybe Kompany has said I’m going to play you here and Berge would rather play in whatever position that role is, let’s say for arguments sake it’s CDM, than playing further forward

Who knows

I don't think Berge is over the moon about joining Burnley, but he may think Kompany's style and formation (4-2-3-1) is ideal for him. I reckon he'd like playing in a central duo with pacey players (full backs and wingers) on each side to pass to.

Anybody else think this is a smokescreen? I'd be amazed if he joins Burnley. This could easily be a smokescreen by his agent trying to flush other bids out by showing he's for sale and wants to move.

I reckon he will wait til a bigger team or one from Europe comes in for him.

I did at first, but with the news now being that he's having a medical today, it seems he's off

Considering it was posted on here before it was even anywhere in the media or on social media... I think sadly not the case this time.

Listening to talksport on the drive into work this morning.

One of the sports headlines...

"Sheffield United are doing their best to ensure Burnley stay in the Premier league this season by selling them Sander Berge"

I'm not having it that he'd prefer to play with pacey wingers when he could stay at the Lane and have the honour of seeing Ben Osborn at close quarters. He needs to see this opportunity to play with Osborn as life affirming.

In many cases that will be true! Berge knew or knows he will have a choice of club.
Still surprised it's Burnley as they arnt going to win anything and really will be in the mix fighting relegation so possibly back in the championship.
Ndiah went for love Berge is is going for the route of all evil ! Money !!
And who would blame him if he did? If you get a better paid job how much does club/company loyalty actually mean anything when you aren't a boyhood fan of the club.

Gets to live in Manchester, which has an airport and his BFF, it's a no brainer.

News the club has been sold would suddenly lift the gloom even without knowing who it is

Wonder who this lad with roughly 1000 PL mins is that Mr Smith was touting should we sell Berge??
The lack of noise about any incomings is weird!
And what about the loans? I know the script is that we have to wait till the end of the window, but surely Man City, THAT Man City!, know who the hell will be in their squad or not by now!

Well he's cutting it fine to pull out FB - he's apparently booked in for a medical this pm.

I'm surprised that he's both willing to join them (hardly the step-up he was rumoured to be seeking) and that no other club has come in at the rumoured fee and salary but perhaps that demonstrates how he's rated.

Personally, I'm not heartbroken he's leaving especially with him apparently being unwilling to extend and the risk that he'll leave for free next summer. He seems like a perfect professional and a nice guy but he's hardly been the world-beater we were hoping for and never seemingly settled into Utd's formation nor style of play - I just wish it had happened 2 months ago! I agree with Bergen Blade that Burley's 4-2-3-1 is likely to appeal and suit him better.

Lewis Cook at Bournemouth was mentioned CB. I've never been overly convinced by him tbh - but depends how PH plans on setting up the midfield.

You're talking like Burnley is a downgrade on us
In my opinion it absolutely is. Okay currently they may have a more attractive manager, arguably a stonger squad and maybe be more financially secure off the pitch than us at the moment but that’s just it short termism. In no other sense would I say that they were a bigger, better club (prospect) than us but as I say that’s just my opinion.

Good riddance for me. One of most skilful but absolutely lazy ineffective players ever seen at SUFC imo. Goes missing for 40mins in each half, can’t head a ball and lazy. Then he annoys you by showing how good he could be if he tried. If his ambition is to live closer to his mate at city it explains why he flopped here. Take as much as we can and invest in youth who wants to work hard for the club.

Ah yes, I do recall now thank you.
I would be happy with Cook coming in. Cook and Souza should pave the way for some more attack minded players coming in… I hope!
