I remember the day I heard ont wireless in my car we had sold Fjortoft and Deane. I was ont A1 and had to pull into a lay-by nearly physically sick I was so feckin angry.

I’ll rember walking of the golf course today, switch my phone on and reading the forum headlines. I need a new 7 iron

This.
Honestly I feel ill having come on the forum and seeing this.

We are an absolute shambles at the moment.

What message does this send out to the players at the club? That we have thrown the towel in before the first match?

And what about player's looking at coming in? Second thoughts before signing or upping wages surely? Knowing we are desperate....

What a fucking shit show.

Sort it out Prince!! And quick!!!

The old Bosman Rule really fucks teams in situations like this.

At least in the Old Days, we'd not be under pressure to sell him so we don't lose him for nothing... he could continue to play, and we'd still get money for him once his contract expired.

As it stands, all he (and any player) has to do is refuse to sign the contract, and the owning Club gets shafted.

Fully understand why the Bosman rule is what it is, but it is very unfair on clubs in situations like ours at the moment.

Don’t think I’ve ever felt so flat going into a new season.

Selling our best two players. Signing a few unknown randoms from overseas and no real replacements seemingly close.

This would be a clear signal that things are actually as bad as we think, and it'll be a record breaking season.

There's a big difference between the 2.

Wilder has a team of mainly upper end league 1 players and was estimated to finish mid table.
He also played a set style where these lower division players suddenly looked good playing in a well oiled team where everyone knew their jobs.
Almost every goal was a well worked team goal, we didn't seem to score many goals out of nothing from individual brilliance.

His reputation was still quite high when he left us, went to a highly rated Middlesboro side, then a highly rated Watford side.
There's no way either of those clubs would take a risk on Hecky.

Hecky had one of the most expensive squads in the league and was one of the favourites for promotion.
He didn't have a set style of play, apart from organise the defence really well when we sat back.
The team often looked disjointed (especially midfield), we'd look good for 15 minutes then really poor playing kick and rush for 15 minutes, all in the same match (explains why Pompey was sometimes critical even when we won). We relied on individual brilliance to score goals.

A valid excuse that Hecky could use regards last season was it was all about the result, never the performance.
So he'd be willing to do anything in order to win, even if it meant putting 10 men behind the ball against a weak team for the last 20 minutes.
It's not what you want to see.....but it did ensure we got the 3 points and in our financial position that's all what mattered.

Regards Berge if he wants to leave...then as long as we do a good deal then think it's best he leaves.
I suppose the main issue is who do we have lined up as replacements for N'Diaye and Berge because this team is currently surprisingly weak.
I actually agree with a lot of that, but it's a results business and Hecky certainly gets results.
I think he would have his pick of most Championship clubs if he was after a job.

Usually I'm all for waiting until the end of the window but based on current circumstances, hanging your hat on up to half a dozen incoming worth their salt, is nothing more than blind faith.

I've backed the Prince and tbh preferred him to KM but unless we see something unexpected and amazing in the next 3 weeks, it's probably the most shambolic and sapping pre-season I can remember.

Yeah most of us remember the club being much lower down the leagues with poor squads but I'm struggling feeling so apathetic about a new season, let alone one at the top table.

I feel the same mate . I said that after our star man left last week .We are replacing them with third rate players .Oh hang on we are not replacing them with anything up to now .
It's a disgrace mate. I'm never usually one to panic and be pessimistic but I don't think you can expect this turn of events to stir anything but resentment, anger and disappointment in loyal fans.

It's almost like the Prince thought, "Right, I've got that fucking interview out of the way at the weekend now. Best get onto Bettis and tell him to sell anybody that would command a fee" :(

You say that but Slav had exactly the same squad and didn't do anything.

Honestly think I feel worse about the club now than when David Weir was in charge. (No slant on Hecky)

I was thinking watching it he was basically begging for someone to come and sign Sander. said mulitple times about selling players rather than have them leave for free

The point somebody made about people wanting to come to us is bang on. If a player had any other option, why would they pick this current blades team. We might well be bidding, but it's a lost cause you'd think.

And if they don't have any other option, why would we want them anyway.

It becomes increasingly clear why Illi went (if he needed a nudge to go to the dream club) and why Sander probably does. I get "building for the future" etc, but it is currently a total lack of ambition and a full surrender.

The difference is that you could understand the lack of signings and investment due to the position of the club at the time.

This time we are in the fucking PREMIER LEAGUE , supposedly the best league in the world, richest league in the world yada yada yada and we've recruited what look to be on current evidence blind punts, for pocket change. Luton have out spent us for fuck sakes.

Didn't say he would...

I have the same issue here as Ndiaye. It's not the fact they have left or may leave... it's the pathetic lack of progress on almost all other fronts which then becomes amplified when your best players leave. We are absolutely miles away from being anywhere near ready from a PL season, this squad as now would struggle to get in the Champ play-offs...

My original comment was tongue in cheek. I'll be there, just about 234 extra pints deep so I'm both blind and deaf.
Fair enough. I'm as pissed off as the next supporter about what's going on but not getting behind whoever pulls on the shirt isn't going to help.

The owning club does not get shafted. We paid however many million for the rights to Berge's registration for four and a half seasons, and that's exactly what we've got?

At the moment we are a laughing stock, bet Luton and Burnley think it's hilarious

Someone do one of those Hitler videos over Ndiaye and now Berge going, it's just a matter of time re one of them coming in!

Ask and you shall receive. Had to be done. If you don't laugh, you'll cry.

Apparently he has been told he must go or he will not be playing Saturday

Take a deep breath ,count to ten, and breaaaaaathe, we are at the bottom,it can't get any worse, we draw a line under it and move on....

Fuck it, it didn't work.
Anel will be off to Luton in the next week.
