Ben Osborn

If Slav gets wingers he so desires in January then Osborn will be nowhere near the first team.

Bags of willing, squad player, bags of energy, covers lots of positions. Presumably won't cost the earth.

Given that we're going to be down on several squad players and loanees in the summer, and without a pot to piss in, he's not the worst option to have, so I would certainly renew.

He's a very limited player in terms of ability but so are the likes of brewster and mcburnie who we've paid millions for, he's arguably a better striker than both and at least he puts the effort in

I really don't get the amount of flak he's got in this thread. He works his arse off, gets stuck in, he's a trier and we haven't got enough of them at the minute- he's the sort of player that traditionally we'd bloody love. And he's got quality too, he's a smart footballer, good left foot. I just think he's a bit of a weird target when there's so many others under performing.

Really doesn't deserve any stick, the epitome of a 'does a job' player and has done as much playing in a new role this year. Yet, as much as he only has the LW slot by virtue of having no other left footed attacking players.

But the problem he has, is that he's a jack of all. Makes for a good squad player, but more limited in the first 11

Not a LB, poor positionally and weak in the air; Lacks strength to play a ball winning role; Lacks vision / passing ability to be play maker; No pace or dribbling ability to play as a Winger or wingback; not technically gifted enough to play as an No.10.

No issue with a new deal for Osborn, but you'd be disappointed if he started the first game of next season.

Maybe its the "working his arse off and trying" that's hoodwinked the blinded brigade that that's what amounts to being a good footballer.

No way, if any of you have aspirations to get promoted, we need better, even as so called squad players.

Or maybe it's him having a tidy touch, nice left foot and being a clever footballer. This 'blinded brigade', happy clappers etc is just fucking boring pal, we're all on the same side.

Osborn's never one to shirk and at least seems to give a damn which is more than can be said for some of the others. He's a solid Championship footballer who'd at the very least be in the matchday squad for virtually all other teams at this level and would start for quite a few of them.

I agree that he's probably not a starter if SJ gets in who he wants but he's one of the best of a bad bunch at the moment, he's certainly not at the front of the queue for getting culled.

should be playing at left back best one weve got for that position

He’s the latest in a long line of those who will only appreciated once they’re gone.

Osborn played left back against Birmingham and was at fault for their goal. He is a decent left wing back but he's not a good left back.
yes your probably right there balham just think hes too lightweight to be playing in midfield we need more physicality in there

100% mate Ozzie done nothing wrong in my book

Im in the 'hope we keep him camp'. That said he will probably have to take a pay cut on any new contract this summer. Not too fussed either way, but I'd be looking to keep Billy, Bash and Ossie. Rest out of contract can leave for me.

He's a very useful player to have. Can cover in 3-4 positions, always gives 100% and still only 27. If he'll take a pay cut we should snap him up.

Have to say I'd let Billy and Bash go unless they'd take large paycuts. There's probably a bigger argument to keep Bash though, given how many strikers we will still have on the books.

Comes across as a nice lad but he's of limited quality and football is not a sentimental industry. If we're serious about regaining a place in the Premier League then we need better than Ben Osborn.
We clearly aren’t serious about regaining a place in the premier league, we have no money, best we can hope for is championship status for a few years so Osborn is a good player to keep in the squad.

His house has recently been sold, cannot see him being here much longer

Cheers Jim
