I've a feeling we'll be stuck with him for the season, probably as the highest earner in our squad.I agree but as above, it will be the same formation. Personally I'd drop McGuiness and start Mee. We are desperate for leadership it's so blindingly obvious.
Tanganga looks class. Looks like he will be one of our best big money signings so far.
Burrows I have faith will come good, but again he looks short of confidence.
Godfrey... Where to start. Needs to be sent back to Italy ASAP, he's absolutely woeful. Literally his only redeeming attribute is pace. Seems a nice kid but games of football aren't won because players are sound blokes.
On two occasions yesterday - maybe more but let's be honest the game was very forgettable - the ball was in the air and he looked like a headless chicken trying to judge the travel of it. Also gets beaten alarmingly easy in one on one situations. Teams are clearly targeting that right flank, I'd definitely have Seriki over Godfrey.
I don't understand where the hype was around him in the first place. This guy has actually represented England at full senior level! It's crazy.I've a feeling we'll be stuck with him for the season, probably as the highest earner in our squad.
Atalanta have had our pants down on this one and couldn't believe their luck getting rid of him.
They'll be in no rush to have him back
Maybe he is better than some on here think ?I don't understand where the hype was around him in the first place. This guy has actually represented England at full senior level! It's crazy.
I've watched with my own eyes, he definitely isn'tMaybe he is better than some on here think ?

1.Agree.Surely he starts at Oxford in a 3 , get shut of Godfrey?
Not too struck on McGuiness either…I thought he was Bindon for the first 20 minutes…Another lanky streak of piss.Surely he starts at Oxford in a 3 , get shut of Godfrey?
If you want a solid defence with a "they shall not pass" attitude, then Mee is your man. Don't worry about pace, he never had much.
If you want ticky tacky passing round the back, then he isn't your man. His job is stopping goals going in. Pretty football is someone else's job.
Did you see this video? (only 15 seconds)
Ben Godfrey got two caps for England, debut in April 2021 then the second in June 2021. He then contracted Covid in the summer of 2021 and was seriously ill with it. He's spoken about the impact that's had on him as it's affected his pace and stamina: https://www.toffeeweb.com/season/21-22/news/41367.htmlMaybe he is better than some on here think ?
Mee might not be the quickest but he is still fit and the experience he has makes up that extra pace, the leadership and communications skills he has too are what we need at the back if we go to 3 CB's then fine but at very least a partnership of Mee and Tanganga would be a very solid paring.Get him in, let's hope wilder doesn't see him as another Holding
Turns like an oil tanker and mistimed his jump for a header a few times - he’s a very limited player. Might be okay in a back 3.Not too struck on McGuiness either…I thought he was Bindon for the first 20 minutes…Another lanky streak of piss.
Ben Mee managed to survive over 260 games in the Premier League!!!! I’d be more than happy to make him Captain and play him every week.. very unlikely he’ll behave like a headless chicken! McGuinness was a bit scary on SaturdayTurns like an oil tanker and mistimed his jump for a header a few times - he’s a very limited player. Might be okay in a back 3.
I was looking at his legs, shins specifically, when he was down at our end. Reminded me of Bash/Richard Stearman quite a bit. How did those two get away with being lanky streaks of piss? Was it simply by having big fucker JOC alongside? Not too struck on McGuiness either…I thought he was Bindon for the first 20 minutes…Another lanky streak of piss.
He did that at least twice at Ipswich too. Being able to read the flight of the ball is a key requirement for a centre half and McGuinness seems to be almost completely lacking in it.Turns like an oil tanker and mistimed his jump for a header a few times - he’s a very limited player. Might be okay in a back 3.
This is a big point IMO.I would add im not saying defence is our biggest worry that it clearly creating and taking chances bit we are bit fooked on that.
Bash’s stature defied all logic. He looked like Bambi with the defensive instinct of Baresi.I was looking at his legs, shins specifically, when he was down at our end. Reminded me of Bash/Richard Stearman quite a bit. How did those two get away with being lanky streaks of piss? Was it simply by having big fucker JOC alongside?
Yes I agree about Peck, he works his arse off but he never seeks to break the defensive lines with a forward pass. Although Soumare’s footballing prowess has been amplified by merely sitting on the bench, I think he’s well worth a try against Oxford. We need the experience in there, someone to get a grip of the back four. Try Soumare in the Souza role, with Matos at his side, love Peck, but just not there at the moment. Sought the back six out, stop conceding first, then push on further up the field.
