Actually I'm pretty sure I read an article saying we looked at Darwin Nunez at the same time as mcburnie and had serious interest.

He was in Portuguese 2nd division at the time and they wanted a similar amount of money to what we got mcburnie for, ultimately we choose mcburnie As he was scoring goals in the championship and would probably fit into wilders criteria better and integrate into squad better the plus sides of mcburnie outweighed those of the unknown nunez (I can only assume).
Glad about that because Nunez is a wanker.

You brought up watkins beinf unrealistic and I'm just reminding you that we was interested in him before he went to villa, but our owners wouldn't sanction it, So your point is pretty pointless.

And 2 i never said he was good with money and I never said he was bad with money. I said some claim he's terrible when having money to spend because he had 1 bad gamble. Which was a reply to 1 poster mentioning a few of the missed out targets.

Wilder has never been backed properly is what I said and I think you just didn't read it properly, or you just made up something I didn't say to run with your agenda.
What are you on about? He made a colossal mess of recruitment post promotion after doing an amazing job before that.

"Proper backing"? You work with what you have and if you don't like it, you leave

I remember something around this.

But I think in the end our shockingly low wage budget and stubbourn structure meant Fulham offered him more than we was willing to go.
What did we offer?

El Accounto claimed we matched Fulham's offer.

The whole post and point was about no backing, again you trying to twist things.

Not sure around the actual figures, but I'm sure reports was claiming they blew us out the water tbh I think even wilder mentioned that we couldn't compete eorh them regarding wages.

Got to remember el accounto was PA mouthpiece, and would do and say anything to make sure he would smell of roses (like some on here).

It was a £2.5m release clause. He chose Fulham
We met his release clause which was closer to a million from memory and Wigan asked for more as they were going into admin which we refused

Someone at wigan rang Fulham and explained the situation and said you'd be getting a great player for peanuts, they offered him extortionate wages and he went there instead

I think he ended up getting about £70k a week at Fulham.

The fee was locked in, no negotiations possible

No where near the squad for a cup game like this is a massive sign

You’re ignoring his Championship record then.
He’d be one of the top forwards in this league as shown from his record at this level, even including his one difficult season with the Slav/Hecky transition.

Jordan Rhodes had a record, then he moved to Wendy where he reversed his record.

That's why people have moved to digital music reproduction, because records can break.

Very good, but McBurnie isn’t moving to a new team and is well known to players and staff.

Yep as they say 'shit or get off the pot'

I can see why we don't want an obligation to buy as the evidence says he might not be good enough for the PL (although he did alright for us) But we only pay 7m if we have another 150m coming back to us so it seems like 'no risk'
We’ve spent millions more on players that weren’t good enough for the PL. We still have one now and he’s not even good enough for the championship.

Rhodes had stopped scoring before Wednesday bought him. That's why it was so nuts

Though BBD had scored 0 for Villarreal, when we loaned him, and 0 for Southampton after he left.

Surely a huge part of being a manager is understanding your budget and identifying players who fit?

"He's good that Watkins. Get him"
"£30m, £80k a week, Villa are a bigger club and his ex boss is there"
"Don't care, I like him"
"But you can't have him. It's ridiculous that you even think this is possible"
Dodged a bullet with Watkins. Goals have dried up. Get Oli back and hope he stay out of trouble with plod, much better.
