Always same with us we put all our eggs in one basket, there never seems to be a plan b,c and so on. It’s one player or nothing.
I get where you’re coming from but in most cases due to budget restrictions we’ve had to sign plan B.

We wanted Matty Cash we got: Bogle
Ollie Watkins - Brewster
Rico Henry - Max Lowe
That lad who chose Derby over us and we signed McGoldrick instead.
Maupay - McBurnie

I don’t think Wilders daft enough to not have back ups, I think he just tries to force through the transfers he desperately wants & offers the board no alternative.

Wilder said not many if any will be able to do 90 mins and will be a gradual build up.

Long story short, we could have really done with extra bodies brought in BEFORE Norwich game.
Completely agree.
But our history and performance in January windows suggested that this was always going to play out the same way with us only really looking at loans with “maybe” a player purchase if the right player came up (whatever that means but says to me bargain)

Plenty called this scenario back when we failed to get enough in last summer, and again at the start of this window but that’s seen as negative. But see it as obvious!

We will get some in this window…it won’t be the 4 I’d really like (RB, CB, MF, LW/ST) but will be some. 2 if we are lucky.

Is there anything in this dodgy knee rumour? That could impact our willingness to agree a loan to buy.

The new owners also may just not fancy him in the Prem. It could be as simple as that.

We use to blame PA for all the time it took to sign players usually at last minute or not happening at all but seems like it could be more the bods still here.

.....But I m ok with signing BBD but not to fussed if it doesn't happen. If Soton , player or Sunderland are fucking us around move on.

We aren't even a fortnight into the JTW yet, and we've got three weeks to go as it shuts on February the 3rd.

Shouldn't we just be a bit more patient

Possibly but CW was definitely giving noises off he wanted/ thought players would be in sooner than later (for Norwich game his words) and looking unlikely.

This is what is really concerning about Mcburnie

Is this gonna be a deal we spend all window trying to do instead of moving on to plan B, assuming we have a plan B? And are we still working on one deal at a time?
LOL. Wilder and a Plan B. 🤣 🤣 🤣

I don’t understand why we’re going for Mcburnie at all. I can only think it’s experience or it’s his partnership with BBD. He was regularly injured and rarely could play 3 games in a week.

Cannon so far has proved he can play week in week out. He’d be the preferred choice dependent on budget

Move on.. yeah right.

Haven't you heard we're willing to wait till end of window to see if Las Palmas change their mind on McBurnie... moving on is something we don't do

Then end up scrambling round at last minute.

List 5 alternatives and then claim he offers no alternatives?

I agree Wilder def have the impression 2 or 3 would be in for Norwich and and the majority of injured players back.

💯 he gave that impression.

So expectation has been set and if non of that transpires then he needs to learn to keep his mouth shut.

Others around us will have a stronger pools to pick from for the next league game

Actually I'm pretty sure I read an article saying we looked at Darwin Nunez at the same time as mcburnie and had serious interest.

He was in Portuguese 2nd division at the time and they wanted a similar amount of money to what we got mcburnie for, ultimately we choose mcburnie As he was scoring goals in the championship and would probably fit into wilders criteria better and integrate into squad better the plus sides of mcburnie outweighed those of the unknown nunez (I can only assume).

He didn't give me the impression that would happen at all.

It sounded like he was hopeful of getting signings in not that there would be. That is very different

Regarding the injured players. He said no should be expecting them to be ready to do a full 95 minutes, but that they would be back

Not to mention robinson who went to Fulham.

People say don't give wilder money etc because he got 1 wrong on brewster. But look at the squad we could have potentially had if the owner backed him properly to get his first choice players. Ultimately he wouldn't.

Did he give that impression? I’d have to listen to it back but I thought he said we were close with some of the discussions for new players, but then talked about the injured players and said if 2-3 players would be back for Norwich [that would make a huge difference].

I didn’t take away from that interview that we’d have 3 new players in for Norwich at all.

Edit: not sure if I’ll get chance before the lockout but just watched the interview post Watford and he says with the Norwich game looming in 2 week potentially reinforcements, 5 players back and then we can go for it in the last 20 games of the season.

Post Cardiff: “come the Norwich game if we don’t get players over the line prior because it’s difficult and a difficult window to get players early….” “If you bring 2 or 3 in then you have 7 knocking on the door”

That's not true either, he went to benfica

He was playing for Almeria in the Spanish 2nd division and the fee mentioned at the time was €13.7 million . Ended up joining Benfica for a little bit less .

Exactly, the choice was between us and benfica ( and other clubs) and he quite understandably chose benfice where he became an 80 m pound striker

I actually give the scouting network credit for this should be more like it

Want might have been true, actually able to get is a different story 😂. I think Wilders thought process then & possibly is still that he signs players that he knows a lot about.

He probably felt more confident in McBurnie & Maupay at the time. To be fair that first season in the Premiership we were all pretty happy with his choices albeit Freeman/ Robinson didn’t quite work out in the end.
