Blackburn fans don't rate him. He had a purple patch with us and now can't get into a team that is looking worse than ours was last season.
Not sure on this one.

Yeah why would we want a guy who scored more than 15 goals a season in his last two Championship campaigns for Blackburn. Keep in mind he has been played on the wing and as a striker.

Why is it, regardless of who owns us our incomings are always sooooo slow. 12 days in and nothing even close despite all the chatter
Because it’s not “soooo slow” given we’ve played one cup game that we didn’t give a shit about.

Perhaps we have bigger ambitions than BBD if we go up. Just a thought.
We might have, but we have to go up before we can realise bigger ambitions.
BBD at this level would help get us to the EPL, if we have bigger ambitions then BBD becomes a squad level player when we get there.
Big ambitions means big money but a strategy to achieve the first target means we can't really pass this signing up.

A critical decision is required, but this deal seems to have too many moving and conflicting parts.

1. COH - unwilling or cautious? Will not want to set a precedent as new owners with an open/blank cheque book.

2. Wilder/SUFC supporters. Want the player, probably first choice based on prior experience. Wilder is known for obstinacy in transfer dealings and it might come off, or not, despite previous evidence.

3. Everyone believes Sunderland are motivated by the player quality and history. Do they have the money, and are they serious buyers?

4. The player and his agent. BBD seems to have the upper hand in decision making here, and he want to come to the lane.

5. The selling club. Almost certainly relegated, and don’t want to face Diaz next season, hence the obligation to buy on promotion.

Turns out it’s a COH decision, based on willingness to negotiate with Soton/Sunderland, up to a point, based on Wilders first choice and his new relationship with the new owners.

Result, everyone waits for COH to decide if they back Wilder, or pull out if it gets too expensive. Whatever happens, Sunderland and Soton both have a say in it.

Nothing to do with owners they aren’t the outliers here, we’ve been slow to the punch a number of times the system not necessarily the staff behind recruitment needs to be looked at. We go on about flirting with these targets in mind months in advance, then all of a sudden “it’s a difficult window to work” “things change” “failed medical” just get it done. Others seem to, even with free agents.

If true he would have signed already.
Not if Southampton won’t accept our deal. They’ll drag it out until the end of the window in the hope that someone comes in that he’ll agree to, or make it clear to him if he doesn’t move he’ll be with the kids until the summer.
They’re not going to bend over and just take it are they?

This is Sheffield United we are talking about nothing better happens. More likely end up with a £250k signing from Dundee United day before transfer deadline day.

I'm still a glass half empty Blade even after 45 years supporting the Blades, you would think it would be empty by now. 😆

So it’s not a done deal then?

And that's too late as another 4 games, or 20% of our remaining games, will be gone by then. We are short now and the next 4 games are winnable with the right squad
Then meet the demands, pay over the odds, or agree to the terms? You cant look for value and also get in our favour.
This is exactly what I expect to happen this week and we have to accept that we have to pay £7m or whatever it is.

A done deal is not, and never has been just about what a player wants.

I know you have been laying into the ITKers who said this was already done and dusted, and that's fair enough. But there were various rumours saying he was definitely coming to us.

By the same logic, maybe we can take the latest rumours with a pinch of salt too, and just see what happens over the next week or so?

Yep as they say 'shit or get off the pot'

I can see why we don't want an obligation to buy as the evidence says he might not be good enough for the PL (although he did alright for us) But we only pay 7m if we have another 150m coming back to us so it seems like 'no risk'

If we're the ones baulking at the deal I really don't understand why.
Who are we going to get that's available for similar money?

A few suggesting it’s his injury and fitness that the concern rather than ability. He’s easily good enough to be worth £7m to us if we go up based on what we saw last season.

Rumours are rumours and no issues.

People continuously just making shit up with neither evidence nor thought is what sets rumours apart from BS.

There is an insufferable amount of BS in this thread.
