BT netted the winner for Stoke, this could be the 1 goal that keeps them up (remember we went down by 1 goal). Our remaining strikers once again blank, this inability to score will cost us a lot more than his wages if we stay down.:mad::mad:

Don't forget this is the second blank scoresheet running on our part when you remind us of BT scoring. Never mind we can always buy people for the future.

I instantly thought this when i saw beattie had scored.

Nice one on costing us possible promotion for a sum that may only come to a measly 3.5M.

We did score, but it got disallowed. Harshly I'd have to say.

I strongly suspect that in the future many of the strikers we sell, for whatever reasons, will score for their new clubs. Uncanny, eh?

Hulse and Stead are top scorers at their clubs, neither should have been let go

Stead didnt go in the summer, and hulse needed more time, he was rushed back way to quickly from his injury and then people wondered why he wasnt up to it

most strikers would struggle to score for us due to the lack of creativity we have at the present time!! beattie scored alot of pens for us this season but we didn't create much for him really..

Have you got actual, stand up in court and swear that's it's true, medical PROOF of this?

Have to agree with this unfortunately, we just don't create enough

I didnt want Stead to be sold! Id rather have had Sharp have gitten the boot!

McCabe did the reight thing selling BT in my opinion, however his timing was wrong.
Anothe bollock dropped on the footballing side of things !

Hmmmm, I think that's probably the best comment on it so far.

the reason that's Beattie has two in two for Stoke is simply due to service. It wouldn't make a difference who was up front for us, we don't have the service that we need to get the forward line in a position to score. If we had service from the wings pumping the ball into the 6yd box then even sharp would be putting them away

Yeah we definitely struggle with the service on the goalscoring side of things. It's not as though our forwards are missing chances all the time. They just don't have enough.

agreed the service is garbage at the moment we need an out and out left winger and i think its time to give cott's a run of few games just to see if we improve ..henderson could be a good goalscorer for us if we get it down the wings and supply him with the service he requires not just pump it up to him to try and flick on

This is why it pisses me off when people slag players like Sharp off - or even worse, use piggy-initiated nicknames for him. With service, our strikers have PROVEN TIME AND TIME AGAIN that they will score goals.

I think some players are also reluctant to have a pop when in a good position too... it seemed yesterday that we'd get in some good positions but no one wanted to take responsibility for having a pop.

Quinn's disallowed goal was one of very few examples of someone having a speculative effort from outside the box.

Service and this ruthlessness could go a very long way.

I see Sharp having 2 main problems when i've seen him play.
1: Our style of play most of the time doesn't suit him
2: He just has to be the unluckiest striker i've seen in a Blades shirt for years, He hit's posts, bars, gets goals dissallowed for other people (ad himself) being offside when they aren't, slips over on our sometimes dodgy pitch at the worst possible moment. He just seems really unlucky.
I know you make your own luck but it's just not going for him since he came back to us.
Hopefully this will change very soon or the random name calling towards him will just force him away from the club.

Like a lot of others I believe that if we can get some real service from a winger who goes past the fullback and pulls the ball back or from the midfield putting the ball through on the ground we will see a change for all our strikers. Head and flick on or hold and pass are a low percentage option. BUT when the chances do come you have to shoot, not pass - that's why Man City and Arse all don't score half the time, as they want to pass it into the goal.

True. I think we try walking it in a lot of the time.

Aye selling him in the summer would of been better and giving us time to find a replacement. Instead of a mad dash for someone in the transfer window and damaging our promotion chances.

How much time did you want to give him?
And could you answer my original question...
Were you saying they should have stayed in the summer (or in Stead's case Jan)?

Went to Preston on Saturday, was an improvment on Tuesday (but lets face it anything would have been lol) but we really hardly looked like scoring....
Its funny when Beattie went we had all this dont worry someone (Lita) is coming in .... that went to pot!
We can have a partnership now Beattie has gone.... Rubbish! There is no partnership up front
Basically before we were relying on Beattie and now were relying on Henderson.. frustratingly United keep proving me right.
Think people at United have got a lot to answer for!

Actually we have the ninth best scoring record in the league and, if we had scored two more goals we would be third - doesn't seem like we are doing too bad overall.

Firstly, the one player who scored goals regularly has been sold. This is an issue. The fact that we have the ninth best scoring record includes the games that he played in. Of course, it's possible that we'll continue banging in goals at the same rate, but to compare then and now is flawed.

Secondly, results are a big part of it - that's granted. However, a lot of Blades fans would agree that many of our results have been gained on nothing more than luck. What happens when this runs out? Where's our plan B?

I don't know how many matches you've managed to see this season, but the way we play football is worrying, whether we're fifth in the table or not. Saying that it doesn't seem like we are doing too bad overall is, in my opinion, misguided; there's a part where we are apparently not doing too badly, but there are many other parts where we are, and with a threadbare squad and a complete failure to play football instead of hoofball, I can't imagine results are going to get much better in the near future.
