The glaring hole in our squad is a McAtee type - we have almost nobody who can unlock defences.
If we don't get him or Coleman or maybe Doyle , is there any other such player available on loan ?
It's a role which needs a natural "football brain" in addition to technical skill & athleticism.
We might be able to persuade Hamer to play further forward but that's only one player.

I was only answering someone who queried why we might take Doyle on loan by saying that there's competition for McAtee from other clubs.
I was sure I'd seen a comment in media that Pep might like him to go to a club who are likely to have more possession for example a top half club.
That's before the article about Ajax , Wolves & Foxes.
Of course we all hope we get him or a similar player.

i doubt a top ten club will come in for mcatee hes a perfect fit for us and he wants to come back here just a pity we havent got the funds to bring doyle back as well unless abdullah pulls another rabbit out of the hat and finds another 10m from somewhere and doyle would be worth every penny of that 10m norwoods natural succesor

We'll see, but they would only be losing one technically, whilst ensuring the other gets valuable game time, which he certainly won't be getting with City, and then goes back next summer with a full PL season under his belt.

The statement that City will only be letting one go seems to be very vague, I just don't think it's as black and white as we are assuming. The noise from the media seems to suggest he'll be going out on loan and we seem to be teh preferred location.

If not, I'm sure Hecky will have a back up lined up, he'll probably know already whether it's likely or not and I'd expect news to come as quick as the Thomas news came tomorrow at some point.
