I would fucking hate it. They are a classless, tasteless set of horrible obnoxious cunts and their gloating will be fucking unbearable.

A couple of near misses, whilst spending millions before the thai ladyboy decides enough is enough and walks away leaving them in administration and screwed for years to come is the ideal scenario for me

Must disagree, Tyler. Next season, any team in the PL will see the TV money go stratospheric - possibly for the last time as Sky and BT Sport can't sustain what they currently pay (I think I read it's £9m per game). This will set up the pigs for many years and, I'm afraid it's looking increasingly likely that they'll get into the play-offs at least - possibly autos. Teams above them are imploding - Brighton, Derby etc. and the chasing pack will inevitably have to play each other.

The best option is failure to get promotion (although, if they get to the PO Final at Wembley, it will re-invigorate them for next season) and the fans may get fed up of paying extortionate prices. I don't know what they were charging v Leeds on Saturday, but less than 24k (with around 4k from Leeds) is fucking pathetic.

And 'not giving a fuck about their fortunes' is burying your head in the sand. If they are in the PL, they will capture an entire new generation of young fans, be rich enough to buy a 'promotion-ready' team if they only last a season and the already-biased local media coverage will see us relegated to the status of Barnsley/Chesterfield from which I simply cannot see us ever regaining parity.

The chickens are coming home to roost for McCabe, the Prince, this 'game-changing investment' and the utter insanity of selling our best players and replacing them with - well - Third Division players.

They need to get to the PL to make the pay outs for the non existent safety certificate the day Liverpool visited.

the dream scenario is wednesday reaching the play off final and losing
then when they are on RS saying how glorious it was we can go on saying exactly what they did every time we lost , might as well not have bothered
losing in a play off final means your not good enough they made sure we knew that
be nice to see how they like it

I do hope and pray they get whats coming to them
had the pious twats preaching how saintly they have always been ,
96 seperate million pound awards for culpable corporate homicide would be a timely lesson in humility

I wouldn't want the pigs anywhere near a playoff final. They spawned their way through the last one.

As a taster for those who live out of town, on Football Heaven last Monday a piggie came on and (re. or narrow defeat at Man. U.) said 'United are a disgrace to Sheffield'. Naturally, he was allowed to drone on and then a Blade came on to remind him that, the last time Wendy played in Manchester, they let 7 in. He also said that callers like the previous one 'shouldn't be let on the programme'. He was promptly cut off.

There is far, far too much to be concerned about with regards to United to be thinking about our porcine neighbours. They're not in our division and they're none of our concern. I'm fortunate enough to have very few porky friends and no porky family members, and I'm shit at seeing my friends, so I manage to keep my exposure to their gloating to a minimum.

I sympathise greatly with those who have piggy family. Just remember that you hold the right side of the city in your heart and that the good times WILL come back around. It feels like we've been down here an age and like we'll be here forever, but someone, at some time, will get it right and get us up and at 'em again.

Let them have their day in the sun. It might even teach some of them how to spell 'sun'.

I would like to know how many on hear will go into proper melt down if the pigs get promoted and will are still playing league one football next season. I suspect some couldn't give a shit but I also know many will be proper pissed off so which will you be? As trust me it could happen.
I would be gutted, but it would not stop me doing what I have been doing most of my life, following the Blades. Also I dont live in Sheffield anymore so I do avoid seeing pigs fans each day.

Yes I would be bothered. Mainly because any "success" enjoyed by the filth throws into stark relief just how far we have fallen and how difficult times are at the moment at SUFC. Let's face it.........the last thing we need right now is an explosion of nobs walking around the City Centre in shirts that haven't seen the light of day since since the War of the Monster Trucks Cup Final.

I work with a few piggies......some go regularly...some never go but they all have one thing in common...............a fecking smug arrogance that gets right under my skin. This is a club that only a few years ago couldnt pay its debts and had a massive chunk written off just to stay afloat - you would have thought that would engender some sort of humility - sadly being a pig means not only do you dress like a tramp....struggle to string a coherent sentence together but you also get a selective memory.

I am praying we have an upturn in fortunes very soon or else I am putting the Samaritans number into my speed-dial !!!

Stop looking for anti-United propaganda in the media. It's there. Deal with it. It won't stop.
Don't be moaning' and whinin' over RS/FH/Star/Journalists, they have agendas.
Agendas, that they set up to be talked about, to sell newspapers, magazines.
They make "celebrities" out of phone-in callers, who say things for effect.

Do yerselves a favour, go and give Nora a cuddle and make her a cup o'tea, help her with the shopping, compliment her.

This Is Lydon speaking.

LISTEN.

As much as I would like that I just can't see it happening. Said it in the shoutbox the other day, if they keep it going they will get second.

Just been round to Nora's - she was sat there in her 1981 Finlux pig shirt stroking her pussy - Waddle - so I took your advice...made her a cup of tea and shat in it.

I feel much better. Thanks for the advice. Glad I listened. :)

Not too fussed about the Grunters and what they do. It has been good the past few years what with our play-off flirtations and big league scalpings to see them languishing in mid table Championship along with L**ds, mid table dull season after mid table dull season. Kinda felt like we were doing better, in a perverse sort of way. Several poor financial decisions compounded to bury them for around 15 years and they've not had much to shout about. As said earlier, a lot of younger members of The Great Unwashed will have only heard legends of the interior of our great national stadium.

They'll probably get in the play-offs. They might even get promoted. In spite of what every one of those smug, self-congratulatory, deluded scum will say, their squad is nowhere near the level required to stay up in the most competetive league in the world without extensive spending and thus they will likely have a miserable season, and I will delight in watching Alan Shearer sagely shake his head as he disparages their poor performance every blessed week.

Let the baby have his bottle.

I would absolutely hate it. From the top of head to the tips of my toes. Mind you they might not be on the telly as much as them and Leeds seem to be the two championship clubs that get chosen by the tv moguls every sodding week. I would be more worried about us though - as to our long term survival as a "big" club. The financial gap between us and the pigs would literally be "massive".

You know how we normally shoot our selves in the foot, well I am hoping they have a massive dip, and wait for us to join them in the championship next season ;)

Pond street Nora still alive.

Full circle for me. They went up under Wilko when we were in the third.
Glad I don't live in Sheffield anymore. Worse thing about it would be watching them on MOTD.
Of course, there's a long way to go yet, if we were sixth would we be convinced that we'd go up?

If the unthinkable happens what would be the reaction of our board
1 actually start caring about the club as normal fans do and invest on proper playing staff
2 up sticks and phuck off
Either way it could be a game changing scenario !!!!!

I think the board/owners have made it clear that the purse strings will be loosened once we get promoted. Whether that makes sense from a footballing perspective is up for debate, but it's solid financial logic. Don't try and smash a walnut with a sledgehammer.

Would you take the pigs going up if it meant McCabe would fuck off?

Jam tomorrow

I honestly think they will go up this season, they have been very smart with the players they have acquired, and to think they were only hours away from going under for good, when Milan sent his representative to buy them at the last minute.

I don't get much stick from the pig fans I know, but it is hard when we are having a pint after football when one of them says "how did you do today? Draw? oh nice one, who were you playing? Rochdale? oh ok".

Not slagging off Rochdale by the way, it could be any one of the olde worlde north west places (Port Vale, Crewe, Oldham) or somewhere closer to home like Scunthorpe, Barnsley, Doncaster.....

When I was a little lad, there was a natural order to things, so the bigger the town/city you lived in, the higher the likelihood that your team would be successful and higher up the divisions, because your potential catchment area and gate would bring in revenue that smaller towns/teams could not compete with. TV money, amongst other things, has changed all that, these days all we have to smile about is the fact that our gate is bigger than most championship gates, week in, week out, and where has it got us? It has got us to "just outside the top 6 in division three", a division we just cannot get out of.

Nothing puts a united manager under greater pressure than the pork doing well.
I could probably deal with them being in the premiership because they certainly wouldn't do a Leicester any time soon, but the summer after they'd just been promoted would be horrendous.

I take your point, and it's certainly not the situation I'd like to see.

The money is indeed higher in the top-flight these days, but it's higher for everyone. So in effect, the clubs already established in the Premiership will still have greater pulling power in terms of transfers and wage bills. If the Pigs were to achieve promotion this season, they'd still be facing a hard slog at the foot of the table, all thats changed is the scale.

And I've never really accepted the argument that the most successful team gets the lions share of future support. In Sheffield, the divide is a sharp one, almost sectarian.
I can only point to my own experience on this. I was a young kid in the early 90's and the Pigs were the dominant club, and it was horrible. They won the League Cup, the finished 5th in the top flight and they briefly had a dabble in Europe. United meanwhile were going backwards (for a change).
But you're a product of your environment, and by that time my love for United and hatred of that lot was already ingrained, and circumstance can never change it.

I can see why you'd see my indifference to the Pigs fortunes as burying my head in the sand, but it's happened over time. Over the years I've come to realise that United are a very self-contained community, a dysfunctional family if you like, and it becomes central to your culture. It's your friends and the people you meet, its the places you frequent. It's a shared history and a way of life. All fanbases have this to an extent but very few have it like ours, and I'm convinced of that. Sheffield United plays some part in my life every day, and I believe it's that way for thousands of others.. Whether I'm on here, or at the match or with my mates in the pub or pretty much any conversation that I have from day to day. I'm as I said on my previous post "immersed in Bladesdom" even if it is a bloody miserable world right now.

The Pigs don't define who we are, and no matter what they do, it won't change how you or I feel about either them or us. So all that's left to do is carry on regardless.
